I can't feel my face
Ivy didn't want to admit she felt rather restless these days, but with no phone calls nor text from Jay only left her feeling worse. After all, it wasn't the best of times, being pregnant during a pandemic.
Honestly, she'd never felt so alone. She was thankful to see the baby when Bom had a chance to bring him over. Funny, the last person she ever thought she'd be friends with was the girl her ex lived with now.
She knew there was no reasoning with Brian about baby Keanu. Brian was hurt and terribly stubborn. She understood this, but she missed Keanu who was the only right thing in her life at the moment.
Yes, there was help from Minnie, but sometimes, Ivy felt her neighbor was a bit preachy. Still, Ivy managed to listen to her for the most part. Otherwise, Ivy had no one talk to these days. She felt isolated and perhaps in her own prison. She didn't think it could get any worse until Lenny showed up.
"I take it, you haven't heard from him," he said rather grim.
"What's wrong?" Ivy told him she knew Jay worked for him, but she hadn't told a soul, other than Minnie which she left out of the conversation.
"If you want to see him, come with me," he ordered.
"What?" Ivy winced. She definitely didn't want to go anywhere with him. She remembered what Minnie had said. It was best to stay away from him. She shook her head no, but he grabbed her arm.
Ivy pulled away, but his grasp was hard. He was a man with little words, even those were cold.
In a matter of minutes she was pulled into his black sports car and whisked away.
While everyone else was social distancing and grilling hot dogs and corn on the cob, Ivy was going north on the interstate.
