Val found it impossible to sleep alone. Every since that storm she'd been with Robby. Perhaps he won after all. Of course, he never said anything about it. After all, they'd gone along quietly.
There was so much they didn't speak of these days. Like his father in the hospital. Was her mother OK? She never called anymore.
As it was, Val started a light cough. She was now on allergy meds now and using a netty pot on most nights to clear her sinuses.
Of course, there was the unknown. But she shut it out when she was with Robby. Yes, maybe the world was waking up once again, but they were on their own. Thankfully, there was a schedule for those monthly bills and a stimulus check was already in the balance. And there was work and of course studies.
But prom was already gone and there was a graduation telecast, along with reenactments. It just wasn't the same. Life was not really normal, but then she knew it could be so much worse.
Still, it was a sadness she couldn't quite shake. Even those times when Jools would drop by to check up on her and Robby. Naturally, he said he would stay if it would help.
She assured him, there was an understanding. Although, she didn't know if it were a verbal agreement. But Robby was still here, doing his part. Holding down the fort, she guessed. Oh, he was the man of the house and she knew it would not set well with him if Jools were here.
Jools was back on campus now, doing off work. Still the campus was quite vacant. Even the Campus Coffee Shop was closed.
Yes, it did know good to weight the troubles. It was best just to go on and not to question how long this way of living would go on.
