cool for the summer

Seriously, Chance thought he was running a marathon lately, jumping practically through loops and mazes to get his work done at the library to making sure Rosie was happy and showing up on time for his brother Casey.

Yes, he'd almost spent the night at Rosie's without anyone knowing.

He was exhausted. Just as he was reaching to pour himself a glass of milk from the fridge (sometime after midnight) Casey freaked him out when he roared, "You've been to a protest, haven't you!"

"Um," Chance needed to think about this. He really didn't want his brother to know he was getting a wee bit cozy with Rosie these days. Not to say it was life-changing, exactly. But there was the sneaking around factor and yes, he'd hid in her closet for a certain time. "What if..what if I said I did?" Chance winced waiting to see if his brother would go ballistic.

Casey looked at him as if he was ready to lose it. "How could you? You could have been arrested." He reminded him not all those at the protest were good people. "You could have been shot and killed." He'd heard the story on the news of some local bar owner killing a protestor which resulted in more wanting to protest.

Chance winced harder. "I just came up for milk." Honestly, he was really doing his best to social distance these days, except for Rosie and he certainly didn't want to make her sick. "I haven't gone to any protest."

Chance was certain of it. The world had gone crazy and he was trying his best to stay calm. Yes, it was topsy-turvy and he felt bad for all of those who were victims. But he was in love, too and that took priority right now.
