it's a cruel summer
Honestly, Bom was hoping for an uneventful summer. Hadn't it been enough with what was going on in the world? She wanted calm. She wanted peace. She wanted to finish the Chinese drama she was watching. And then Ivy up and left.
When Minnie came over with the news, she was certain Minnie was going to drive to the Rez all on her own with her little ones in the backseat.
"No, you wouldn't. You can't," Bom reminded her that her husband Josh would be sick with worry. "We need to call the police."
"But, but what if they won't listen?" Minnie looked terrified as if she was already a third class citizen being Native American.
"We will keep bugging them." Bom didn't know what else to tell her. And of course, when they filed a report it wasn't a priority, evidently with all the other protest happening. And the June storms came, and the winds which meant lots of trees in the streets.
Then Brian had his meltdown as if he didn't want to have anything to do with Ivy. She could see the hate in his eyes. She was certain he hated her too.
"But, we have to do the right thing," She still remembered a thing or two from all the studying she did back in Seoul, hoping to be on the Police force, some day..which never happened. She knew about GPS and all about Ivy's phone because she'd set up the phone for Ivy.
"Are you a spy or something?" Brian looked at her as if she might be a criminal.
"No." She winced, ready to fuss with him over what he thought of her. But as long as that phone was on, it was a beacon hope that they might find Ivy soon.
