This life is not a shameless waste
"Are you sure? You're not trying to date me?" Alfie wanted to make it clear he really didn't need all this support from Steve, but they always seemed to go out for dinner these days. Steve was so happy dine-in was available. There were so many local places he'd missed.
"No..I..I'm just worried about you," Steve said he didn't like eating alone and it was good to see more of Alfie.
"I'm not going to kill myself," Alfie shook his head. "I'm not Simon." If he remembered correctly, he didn't hear Steve ever say that Simon even came out and said he wanted to die. He winced, thinking Steve got it all wrong.
"You should call him, invite him out," Alfie shrugged as he had decided he couldn't possibly put as much hot sauce on fries as Steve did.
"What?" Steve winced hard, he shook his head no. He said Simon would get the wrong idea.
"How do you know?" Alfie gave him a wide-eyed look.
"HE TRIED TO KISS-" Steve cleared his throat and looked around. He couldn't even finish his sentence.
"Have you ever thought outside of the box?" Steve wanted to know.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Steve frowned. He was just as stubborn as Alfie remembered.
"You might like him," Alfie smirked.
"Are you serious?" Steve sighed with a wince.
"OK," Alfie sighed. "I don't have the funds to keep going out with you."
"I'll pay." Steve looked at him as if this was a mute subject.
Alfie shook his head, no. He needed to get settled and find a job. "I want us to keep in touch. It's just, it's not fair to you." Besides, he knew he needed some time to think. He needed to be out on his own. Alone.
It was true, he needed to stop thinking of Lynsey. It was as if she didn't want him to even know where she was. No way was he a stalker. He knew he needed to wish her the best and hope his life would get happier someday.
