tell me anything
"Oh, so there is a girl involved?" Keir wasn't sure it was a question, after all, wasn't this always the case with his brother Micah.
The phone call remained silent on Micah's end.
"I thought you already had a family," Keir guessed he was being petty with his older brother, the babe magnet or was that babydaddy? Oh, he could go on...but it would only make Micah bitter and Keir was in shock that he'd called him. They never talked.
"You know, I can't..." Micah hesitated. "That's done. Don't even go there. I am no one's father."
Keir winced, wondering if it made his ears hurt. He remembered all the screaming matches with his mom over the whole ordeal. His dad wasn't much better. They'd given up on Micah.
Keir was their only hope now. And these online classes were killing him. There seemed to be no end in sight, learning the rigors of Finance. All he'd done these last few months was stay home on his laptop, exercising with pushups and running in place, hoping he got through this pandemic.
"I don't go anywhere in my car," Keir made it sound as if it didn't work.
"Just tell me, you can do this for me. It will only be for a few days." They could exchange cars near the campus. Keir didn't have to see where he lived.
Keir let out a sigh.
"What kind of trouble are you in?" Keir wanted to know. Maybe it was the fact he'd be in trouble with his dad if he knew his Honda Accord wasn't in the garage.
"I'm not in trouble," Micah promised. He said he was doing a favor for a friend. They needed to get to the Black Hills.
