What's a friend to do
The fourth would be here soon and Iona couldn't even imagine how one would celebrate even if fireworks were already about. And then, sad news came in a phone call from a long distant relative, her Aunt she'd lived with all these years passed away with a sudden heart attack.
She felt a certain sorrow, knowing she probably couldn't make it back. After all, not that many could go to the funeral, anyway. Still, the relative insisted that she could at least come back and meet with friends and family at her Aunt's home. Still, she didn't think she had a right to go. They'd had such a disagreement when she left. Her Aunt Nadine threw her out of the house.
Still, she cried. Her Aunt was the only mother she ever knew.
"We should go," Micah said he would go with her.
"But how?" Neither had a trusty car. She knew going by bus would be insane. Did they really want to travel in a time like this?
"I'll borrow my brother's car," he shrugged as if it were no big deal. Not that she couldn't trust Micah. After all, he had a junkerd he drove to work daily.
"But, but you don't even talk to him," Iona thought Micah was more distant to family than anyone she knew.
"I'll talk to him," He got out his cell to look up his contact.
Iona shook her head. All she really wanted to do was sleep.
"Check your blood sugar," Micah ordered. He told her she was stressed.
She winced, what could she do about that?
"Take your meds, eat some apple and peanut butter and take a shower," Micah looked at her as if he did know best. Finally, he got a hold of his brother.
