going nowhere very fast

Ivy knew she should stay in, but she didn't want too. All she really wanted was to go...somewhere.

"Take the elevator," Dan told her.

"But won't that be too stuffy," she thought of all the COVID cases happening right now.

"Then, stay home," He shrugged as if that was the right thing to do after all. She knew he meant well, but he could be so annoying and he was always right.

So when he wasn't home she decided she would just take a walk. Maybe in the building or outside. She could go see baby Keanu but she just wanted some fresh air. Although, she would need to wear a mask.

And then it happened before she could even make it to the elevator, someone stopped her in the hallway. It was Will, her boyfriend for a short while in high school. And he was with his fiance and her two kids. Evidently, one was his, the baby.

"You live here?" Will asked.

"Yeah," she looked at him a little bug-eyed as if... was that going to be a problem?

He went on to introduce his family. "I didn't know you were back," Will said he heard about what happened to her in South Dakota. "I'm glad you're all right. I just thought you'd be at home with your mom."

"Well, Brian is here and-"

"Oh, so you guys got back together?"

Ivy didn't want to explain anything to him. She nodded and went on her way hoping they weren't next-door neighbors, but what if they were? Suddenly, it felt like a throwback of some kind. She hadn't thought of Will for ages, and now look at him, she thought..a family man.

Ivy decided to take the stairs. It was only two flights. It couldn't be that bad. She felt the need to run, as she went down the stairs. And there was another old face from high school. This time it was Gabby, perhaps they were more enemies than friends.

Maybe Gabby wouldn't recognize her, but she did.

"You live here?" she asked. She wasn't wearing a mask of course and looked too dressed up and nowhere to go.

Ivy stayed mute but Gabby didn't mind, she flashed her wedding band set. She was married now.

"And you live, here?" Ivy scowled as if that was pretty pathetic. Well, possibly not the best question to ask the girl who was the worst best friend in the world.

Naturally, Gabby winced as if Ivy was seriously the best of the MEAN GIRLS.
