November already

 Halloween was over. Although, it felt rather insignificant to Valentina. Just another lonely Saturday night. She'd did a video chat with Rosie who was with Chance. It was a little silly but nice to know they thought about her. And of course, Rosie asked about Matty.

"How's that going?" Rosie smiled as if she might be the best matchmaker ever.

"Oh, I don't know," she didn't mean to sound so dreadful. It was good to have someone to eat with in the cafeteria and someone who followed her along as if she might lose her balance and fall. Actually, it wouldn't be so bad to have someone like Matty catch her. But...

And it was a big BUT.

1. He was younger.

2. She should have graduated last year, but for some certain snag with her credits she was here one more year which made her feel slightly all the more dumber and what would Matty think if he knew. 

3. This was her senior year. Her final year with COVID.

Yes, she was full of anxieties.

"Did you ask him out, yet?" Rosie wanted to know during the chat.

"Where would we go?" Must Val remind her there were less places opened and many more COVID cases on the rise. Besides, she'd never asked a guy out. 

"Oh, I dunno, ask him over, why don't you?" Rosie just kept smiling as if she asked Chance over all the time. 

Even that sounded like a challenge, but as if was, they were running even if the Cross Country meets were over. It was as if this was the natural course of things. They had this one thing in common, running. Maybe this was what they were meant to be. Running partners.
