Valentines delight

Ste knew the bakery should have been open for Valentine's day, but they closed it instead for their wedding. His brother officiated. Jax went online and everything to study up for it. Ste doubted Jax ever did it again. Although that day he did look like a preacher.

It was great to see all his close friends together. Of course, his ex wasn't there but her sister was. And there were Mira's friends from the University. Still, it felt like a family even in this inland where he'd made a home above the bakery.

Naturally, it wasn't exactly an easy life, yet it was all he knew. Making ends meet. Thankfully, he was not thinking about bills. Although, a real honeymoon was out of the question. But, his brother got them a suite in the big hotel near the river in the city.

"You'll be fine," he told them. He was going to help with the bakery, but Ste knew it would be Diago doing all the work. Still, he knew it would be fine. And he knew he should enjoy the day.

After all, Amira looked beautiful and it felt like a real wedding even in a bakery. Of course, he'd never been married before and hadn't actually gone to a wedding. But it was a sweet occasion with so many friends. He knew it was all of them who made the day possible.

"It'll take some time getting used to," Amira told him after the ceremony. After all, she never lived with him until today.

He looked around the place he called home, thinking he really should have thought of how to make the place more theirs instead of his.

"Just go, go have some fun. Don't you come home until next week," Jax told him.

"Why?" Ste looked at him wondering if he could be away from the bakery that long.

"Just rest. Have a vacation."

Ste couldn't think of it that way.  "I'll take care of everything here. You take care of Amira." Jax promised Ste everything would be OK.

Finally, it sank in. He had to take care of Amira. Ste was in a squint trying to figure out the secret meaning of Jax's words. Amira was the best work wife around, but this was totally different now. He was going to be spending time with her when they weren't at work.

Ste bit a grin. He was no Cassanova. And the past relationship he did have ended bitterly. But then again, Amira was sweet, talented and his best friend.

There's nothing to be afraid of he told himself. Although, he didn't want to make it his mantra for the next few hours. Of course, once they got to hotel, Amira couldn't wait to get in bed.

"I need a nap," she said. "I couldn't sleep a wink last night and who knew the day would be so long."

The wedding was mid-morning and they'd had brunch afterward. She washed up and got in her cotton pajamas soon enough.

She handed him the matching pajamas. She said the first step in anything you do was to get comfortable. Still, he filled up with laughter. He wasn't single anymore. He was someone's husband.

    1. I thought it was time for them to tie the knot. Although, it's hard to write about Ste's character. He kind of turned into a monster in his last relationship I wrote about. Let's say he does have a jealous streak, but then again he was with someone who enjoyed making him jealous.

  3. I didn't see it coming that Ste and Amira were just friends up until their wedding. Nice twist! I'll be interested to see how this turns out.

    1. Ste is a little complicated. His last relationship was mainly physical and it ended practically abusive. So he did have a lot of time to reflect. And Amira is nothing like his ex.
