"Oh, none of it was your fault," Minnie was glad to see Bom. She gave her a hug even if she probably went against the rules of COVID. Naturally, Bom cried harder, but the kids went to Keanu's room to play, or just to drag out his toys to the livingroom floor.
Minnie went on to say that she and Josh did have a bit of a fuss over Jay, but he was now even more concerned that Jay moved in with Slater.
"What do you mean?" Bom winced wondering how much more this could get complicated. She said she'd talked to Ivy and knew they'd split up but she didn't know about Jay.
"Somebody has to watch out for him," Minnie looked at her blankly. "He's just Jay, you know. I don't know if anyone has really cared for him. I mean, while he was growing up his Mom was always at the casinos and she gambled just as much with the men she met. I don't know if he even knows what a real home is." She hadn't meant to talk of him. "But I think Slater is a good influence." She knew Josh hated the idea of Slater being friends with him, but somebody had to do it.
"Maybe when things settle down, it'll be OK." Minnie nodded.
"Well, they aren't married," Bom sighed.
"Neither or you and Brian," Minnie looked at her.
"Well..." She sighed with a worried look. "He's not going to want to get married anytime soon." She sat down as if she was too tired to even think.
"What do you mean?" Minnie flicked her braid behind her back as she sat across from her at the dining table.
"Oh, you know, he thinks we need some fabulous wedding, that I know will never happen." She didn't smile about it.
"Is that what you want?"
"No, I don't have to have anything big." She shook her head.
Minnie watched Bom's expression.
"I think he needs a good talking too," Minnie told Bom.
"Maybe, it's more important to my parents than anyone." Bom nodded.
"It's important to your kids," Minnie snapped.
Just then Keanu came with a Lego figure he was working on. He handed it to Bom. "I don't want Dad to marry you," he said to both Minnie and Bom's surprise. "I want to marry you."
Minnie and Bom both laughed.
i had a small wedding and it was amazing:) so I understand Bom so well:)

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Just wanna say thank you for the recommendation of Sell Your Haunted House, Ellie! It sounds right up my alley. It's on Viki but not on Netflix yet. I might have to renew my Viki Pass to watch it...LOLZ
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely chapter!
ReplyDeleteSome tough love from Minnie! I like how you have Keanu break up the tension with his "proposal." I also like the line "(Jay's) Mom was always at the casinos and she gambled just as much with the men she met." Very nice, that! :)
