NOTE TO SELF - Your feelings are valid

Simon wanted to misunderstand. What was Alfie talking about? Steve moved out?

Of course, he was in the process of moving out himself. The packers came to move most of his things to storage. Naturally, it was their stuff (his and Steve's). He was doing his best to be congenial. Maybe Steve needed some of these belongings.

Yet, bitterness was getting the best of Simon. Maybe it would be best to have some time to reflect like his brother said. It was as if he needed to put everything on hold. Which he knew sounded stupid to some. Especially, Steve who was always worried if he'd taken the right path. He wanted a job that could pay, not part-time at the library.

"Well, where did he go?" Simon asked after Alfie (from across the hall) invited him in for coffee.

"Oh, I think it's just temporary," Alfie was pleasant about the matter. "I don't know why Steve did it. I mean, he wasn't cramping anyone's style, living here."

Simon grew even angrier as Alfie took his time with the coffee and treats. Why couldn't he just get to the point. Where was Steve?

"He moved in with Dan."

"Dan?" Simon practically yelled. He festered a frown with a squint.

"Well..you know..they go way back." Alfie shrugged as if it was really no big deal.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Simon's frown drew tighter as if he didn't like this. His boyfriend with an old friend from high school. Yes, he still considered Steve his boyfriend who must have been the hardest person on earth to woo.

"Nothing." Alfie looked at him blankly. "Dan's just trying to help him out." He bit into a shortbread cookie and pushed the sleeve of square treats toward Simon, but he was in no mood to eat.

He got up. It was time to thrash this out with Steve.

  1. Yes, Simon should definitely have a word with Steve. That's not the way to treat your friend and roommate - doing things behind his back, like the moving decision with Dan.. Simon shouldn't have heard that from Alfie.

  2. Simon has different expectations than Steve, maybe a talk will help clear their relationship and expectations.

  8. I knew things weren't over for these two. I feel for Simon, especially because "he still considered Steve his boyfriend who must have been the hardest person on earth to woo." It can't feel good when someone you thought was ungettable just up and seems to pick someone else.

    1. I am beginning to think I am the one who isn't good with confrontations (lol) True, they haven't had it OUT as of yet. Although, I am certain I wrote somewhere where Simon's brother really want's Steve just to leave Simon alone (Or that's his interpretation of it.) Unfortunately, I feel it's hard for some readers to have sympathy for a couple like this. Which I think is sad, but it doesn't shy me away from having a 'gay' storyline. Although, one my favorite storylines was with Xander and who he thought would be his boyfriend but in the end he realized he was just a little crazy. Eventually, he does meet the right person.
