Vicki thought she might have a heart failure when she looked down at her phone to see who texted. Finally, she smiled all over. It was from Steve.

She looked at the text again. Was it for real?

"I was wondering how you've been." 

Well, that was nice, she thought. She was on her break at the drugstore. She was munching on an apple in the sunlight, dreaming of course, of the guy she'd seen at the display in the grocery store, but she was thinking of Steve, too. Although, she knew he'd had a boyfriend. She knew she should stop dreaming so much. But it did make the day better. 

And Mick only talked to talk about Jools. She swore that Mick must be in love, but he would never figure it out. 

So it was nice to hear from someone who wanted to see her. She smiled brightly. No time to waste.

"I'm good. Do you like your job?" She texted back. Although, she knew he would say he did when he probably really didn't. Who really liked their job? But she opted to be positive, hoping he might come around to see her again. Although she possibly snagged him on that occasion, he didn't look that annoyed.

He asked if she was free after work. 

"Of course." She wasn't going anywhere. He said he had a baby loaf of banana bread to give her. He just couldn't seem to cut the recipe down to one baby loaf yet.

She smiled at that.

"Do you want me to come over?" She asked.

"Your parents would let you?" His text made her laugh all the more on the warm spring day.

"I'm twenty. They can't lock me up at home, you know?"

"I'll make dinner then." He told her.

Vicki couldn't remember ever being this kind of happy.
