There's something about you

Declan did have a lot going for him. After all, he was an up-and-coming talk personality on the talk radio station. Naturally, that came when his boss got fired for posting a racist image on his Twitter account during a local police brutality incident that happened during the riots of last summer. These were things Declan didn't want to dwell on. Thankfully, Declan still had his job and he was determined to keep it. Hopefully, saying all the right things his sponsors wanted and also be the voice of the millennial youth of the city.

It wasn't that simple, but at least Simon was a great distraction. And he was pretty sure Simon was on board with it too.

Of course, he'd spent several weekends with Simon while his roommate, Reese was out of town. The summer couldn't be better. After all, it felt to Declan he was showing Simon a whole new world. As adorable as Simon was, he didn't have many friends. Of course, Declan suspected he might be depressed so it was good to bring him into his circle of happy friends. Some might have called that networking, but that was the kind of person Declan was. Sure he loved having friends, he just wasn't always there for them. After all, he worked. He was a busy guy. But not too busy for Simon.

"I think we should make it official or something?" Declan was giddy about the matter. "How about you move in with me."

Reese's townhouse was big enough. It couldn't possibly be that big of a deal.

Simon didn't exactly put him off. He assured him that of course, he wanted to be with him, but his brother thought they should wait.

"Wait for what?" Declan looked at Simon as if they'd already had an amazing night together and a good part of an early morning too. Was he serious? Declan only smiled at him, wishing there was someone who could bring them breakfast in bed. But then again, Reese wasn't that rich.

When Simon bit the corner of his lower lip, Declan knew what that was about.

"You're fine," Declan did his best to reassure him. "We're fine," Declan smiled all so giddy and pushed his hand to Simon's bare shoulder. "You don't always have to listen to your brother. Now do you?"

He pulled him closer their foreheads touched. But all he got was a sigh out of Simon.

"Oh dear, what have they done to you, love?" Declan was certain he needed to save Simon from something. Although, he wasn't certain of what.

Of course, he knew Reese wanted him to stop playing around and get serious with someone. Naturally, Asexual Reese wasn't going too. Declan was certain of it now. Simon was the one.

  7. Simon seems to bring out the best in Declan: "Sure he loved having friends, he just wasn't always there for them. After all, he worked. He was a busy guy. But not too busy for Simon." But is Simon ready for a new commitment? These are interesting dynamics. Something tells me that it's Declan who'll get hurt, but then, you always have such twists and turns that I'm inclined to say the opposite!

In response to your comments, I totally get the yarn collecting. Although with me, it's felt. I've had my big boxful so long that sometimes I worry things are living in it. Anyway, it was nice of your neighbor to give you her yarn and fancy souvenirs. I'm glad to hear that your bucket hat is coming along. Yes, Amazon can be tricky. They always have different prices for different colors and sizes, and I heard that they raise all their prices on weekends. Sneaky! I'm sure you're right when you say that the Melissa storyline is more common than most people think. We never really know what's going on with people. That's why I love fiction. It's the once place we get to find out for sure, Twain's old "truth inside the lie." I can't wait to find out what happens with Melissa, Victoria, etc. next!

    1. Um... I think it's too important to want to help another person who goes through difficult situations ... what would become of us without friendships?
