"I just don't know how you could name him Eero," Jory knew it was selfish to say to his sister, but she'd been through so much having the baby. Even a stroke afterward and Casey was nowhere in sight. She had to do everything for the baby.
"Casey came up with it," she was tired and out of it. He doubted she slept at all these days. Why was it this way?
"Maybe I could stay, a day or two." Jory decided. "You know, help out."
"Oh no," He could see her cringe at the thought. "Everything is fine." But her hands went straight to her lower back when she tried to walk. She hadn't had any surgery. She'd had the baby naturally, but he was close to nine pounds. "We will be OK."
She reminded him that Casey's parents were here. It was their first grandchild. Of course, she did most of the cooking when she could.
"What kind of people are they? From the old country? They aren't moving in, are they?" He'd heard horror stories about such matters.
"They'll be gone in a week or two," Lynsey told him with a smile, yet she looked sad and tired. "You still haven't told me who you're seeing?"
"About that," Jory didn't know where to start. He was with Rachel, but they'd been so busy lately. "I don't even know if you'd like her."
"It doesn't matter if I like her," she laughed at him.
"Well... I..I find her kind of funny," he smiled then. "But you know, everything is fine if..if we are doing things her way."
"I see," Lynsey nodded. "But do you like things her way?"
"Oh, god, how can you stand Casey, huh?" Jory made a face of disgust. "He's just so...odd."
"Sure, he's got his issues, but he's just Casey. A loner who likes to hide in his own house. But he knows things. And I know he loves me." Lynsey said she needed someone like him.
"But why?" Jory didn't understand.
"He might not be who you think he is," she smiled. "And maybe you actually like doing things Rachel's way."
Jory stared at her as if he had no idea what she was getting at.
Very interesting chapter ^^

Uy lo dejaste muy interesante . Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteThat's so scary that Lynsey had a stroke after delivering Eero. No wonder Jory's concerned about Casey's disappearing act. Still, what Lynsey says at the end just goes to show that no one knows what goes on in a relationship except the people in it: '"He might not be who you think he is," she smiled. "And maybe you actually like doing things Rachel's way."' You're so good at adding insight to seemingly surface-deep situations.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting story, looking forward to the continuation
ReplyDeleteGood writing :-)
ReplyDeleteHello!! this was interesting, thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!!
Again, you wrote the chapter beautifully.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteShe must be really strong to survive all that. Hopefully, she and baby will be alright. The name choice is a bit odd, but it seems like she wants to honour Casey's choice of name. I wonder when he will show up.
