Declan didn't understand what was bothering Simon.
"Look, there is nothing really going on with Reese and me, it's just..well, he'll always come first because," he shrugged. "He needs me."
This left Simon in a wince as if that was an awful thing to say, especially to a boyfriend. But Declan would just have to wait and see. He thought there was plenty more Simon should be worrying about than his oldest friend Reese.
"What are you going to do with your life?" Declan got to the point before his other friends came over to their little afternoon fiesta which of course, Reese refused to attend. He had something to do at the museum. Probably putting dinosaur bones together for all Declan knew.
"What are you talking about," Simon was not as altogether as Declan had hoped. Of course, Reese mentioned Declan should get Simon on at the radio station as his assistant, but Declan thought that was a little much. Being together was one thing, but a working relationship was a totally different game.
"I'm just saying, you don't plan to be at that diner washing dishes forever, do you?" Declan smirked, honestly, he'd hate to tell any of his friends what his boyfriend did when he wasn't here. He sighed.
"Well..no..but.."
"You need to get moving on a career, in all honesty, you need some goals," but as soon as he said it he knew Simon didn't want to hear it.
Delcan rolled his eyes. What was Simon going to be like when he met Connor and Colleen? Of course, those two fussed more than they got along. They were always in a competition, always finding someone hoping to win over. In most cases, it never happened. Those two were pretty much a couple.
Declan went to check on appetizers in the kitchen. Of course, the pitcher of Margaritas was chilling in the fridge.
He went back to Simon with a cold bottle of water. Neither were going to consume much alcohol. Naturally, he could see Simon was still stuck on Reese as some sort of terrible obstacle.
Declan was starting to have doubts about him, but maybe Reese was right. He'd try to work with Simon at the radio station. After all, Simon won some theater competitions when he was in high school.
You are so talented Ellie!

ReplyDeleteA very intense chapter! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteOh, this Declan! He makes me so mad! ' "I'm just saying, you don't plan to be at that diner washing dishes forever, do you?" Declan smirked, honestly, he'd hate to tell any of his friends what his boyfriend did when he wasn't here. He sighed." At the very least, Declan should know that there's something wrong with him for feeling ashamed of Simon. He should work on that instead of trying to "fix" Simon. That said, I expect the radio station stint will be a disaster. Guess I'll just have to, ahem, "stay tuned."
ReplyDeleteOn another note, of course you made your Barbies clothes and imagined elaborate conversations for them to have with each other! We are who we are in kindergarten, LOL. Also, being banned from wearing T-shirts to work at the library sounds awful. Who's "enraged by neon orange" anyway?! I hate dress codes; they can be really demoralizing in school or the workplace, making you feel like just another cog in the wheel. I'm so glad that you wore your new pink sneakers and your pink dress/tunic. Liking what you wear is so important. I hope you're having a wonderful birthday week! And that you enjoy that no-bake cake as well as other treats and lovely outfits. :)
Oh..I wished I'd gone for the no-bake cake. I made a homemade chocolate cake and got chocolate all over me. I never could soften the butter enough..evidently. Yes, I made it my way instead of the right way. Still, I ate it. It has some coffee in it..thus I was awake all night. Lesson learned! Maybe.
DeleteOh, I'm glad you said something about Declan! He might not be the smartest tool in the shed and of course, Simon finds discoveries right and left and is still a little lost (Acutally..he is the poor little rich boy!) It was his brother..Xander aka also Matty's adoptive dad who told him he needed to work to understand what "working" really was after all his attempts in love and yet depression.
Hello!! so interesting!! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!!
