For only time will tell

Bishop couldn't delete Misty's words off his phone. He couldn't help but stare at it every day. Of course, he knew it was over. She had moved on with somebody else.  But still, there was a ping of sadness that swept over him in spite of what had happened at home.

Really, it wasn't as bad as many might think. Sure, his dad Bill was sick, but he'd still managed to somehow find a way to get to Florida. It was the fact he hated to leave before Bishop's sister Emily found someone.

Of course, Bishop thought his sister could be well enough on her own. After all, who cared how lonely he was. Not that it mattered because he didn't let anyone get close. After all, he was a cripple and spent a good portion of his young life in hospitals with either heart surgeries or just some lung illness. But he was here. He still existed, even if he tried his best to be invisible. Of course, he liked his research and maybe that's what kept him going.

He knew it was too late, to be honest with Misty(who he'd met on a dating app and yet they'd never had a date). Of course, he hadn't heard anything from Slater (Misty's co-worker friend). A part of him thought Slater might be his new best friend a few months ago, but even that fool hadn't been around to ask him about Misty.

So naturally, he got to his lab and his computer and all was right with the world, even if Emily and Liam were together now. They were always trying to get him to join them for evening dinners, but he knew he wasn't much for seeing people in love.

Actually, Emily and Liam moved into his parents' bedroom.  At first, this had upset Liam. No way could he sleep there. Bishop got a chuckle out of this. They had to get a new bed and everything there's. They moved the old stuff to the basement. Bishop had kept a watchful eye on this.

At least, they were engaged now. There might be a wedding in October. That is if their parents made it back for such an occasion and of course if his Dad stayed well.

Bishop knew there were no worries. Besides, his dad had said, "Just focus on your work. You never know who you might meet."

Bishop laughed at the suggestion. His father was kidding. Bishop never met anyone. He was deep in the basement of the Science building surrounded by lab rats and the like. No one needed him for anything.

Yet someone showed up. Bishop blinked. Was he seeing things? After all, Slater had been the only one to find him. He'd walked right in, but it wasn't him. It was a girl..no make that a woman. Bishop sighed. Possibly, she was lost.

She had a silly look on her face. About then the old black phone rang. He answered it.

"Your help has arrived," some secretary told him.

"What help?" Bishop winced.

"Dimi Dean, your new assistant."

"What-" He was in a fret but he couldn't let on just how awful he'd be to work with. Of course, she looked oblivious with her child-like wonder of the place. He hung up and did his best to smile back. It was possibly the worst day of his life or the start of something.

  8. Ok, whoa. I have so much to say. First of all, Bishop is disabled? And he and Misty have never met? And he's Emily's sister? And now Dimi is his assistant? Mind blown! If anything, Misty's sleeping with Slater actually seems less awful -- even if Slater is Bishop's friend of sorts. And Dimi and Bishop seem like they may be a good fit. Still, I'll be very interested to see how the cerebral and self-contained Bishop adjusts to having another person in his lab. Your twists are the best, Ellie!

PS Are you on Ravelry by any chance? So many great crochet patterns there, and you can post your projects:) It would be great to see your hats. Bucket hats are so in right now, and my youngest is obsessed with them! And I'm watching Voice 4 right now. I'm still waiting for Police University to be available on the Viki Standard pass...hehe....
    Have a great week ahead:)

  14. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it is hard to tell whether something is the end or the beginning....sometimes it is both. The worst day of our lives can be a beginning of something new and positive.
