"Please tell me, it wasn't all a mistake," Emily had nowhere to turn to but to Bishop who was as tight-lipped as ever.
"You shouldn't be saying all this to me," Bishop shrugged as if she shouldn't be in his part of the house. His room was off-limits. Although, it didn't look like a room slept in, but a museum of his educated past. "Talk to Liam."
She took a deep breath and hugged herself hard. "He's not going to tell me anything." She was mad. Mainly at herself. Why couldn't anything go like she thought it would.
"Well, you're just thinking too much. Try not to figure too much out or you'll talk yourself out of anything." Now, this is what she needed to hear.
"Liam's here and I don't think he's going anywhere. You just have to make the most of it, instead of wondering if it's right or wrong. You'll both figure it out." Bishop was always insightful. After all, he was like a fly on the wall who could hear everything.
"You..you think he likes me, right?" She kept a swelled frown.
Bishop sighed as if he was too tired to answer. "Why? Why are you like this?" He winced. "Stop asking what I think!" It was as if he'd had enough and he wanted her out of his space.
Emily edged back as if her time was up. Texting was always something she could do throughout the day to Bishop. Seriously, he was more of a parent than either her mom or dad. She was mainly here to keep things tidy and help when needed. Sometimes, she felt she would never leave this place. As it was, her parents left her, hoping she was being taken care of.
She pressed her lips tight. Yes, maybe she was thinking too much, but she didn't want to make Liam miserable either. If only, she hadn't peeled back the layers of her life, everything might be just fine.
After all, he'd kissed her first. If only, they could have played out their feelings at his place instead of here, it would have been so much better. But there had been her father's illness and now her dad acted as if all was well.
Finally, she found Liam in the kitchen looking through the fridge. "Where have you been?" He asked.
"Oh, you know..Bishop-"
"Is he going to eat with us?" Liam wanted to know.
"I-I forgot to ask."
"Probably not," he got out some eggs. "I'll make something."
She so wanted to know what it would be. Actually, she wanted to do everything, but she knew that would be wrong. She wasn't always right about everything. But she knew even now he wasn't thinking of any sort of veg in the meal.
"Stop thinking I'm going to make you sick," he smirked. "I can cook without making a mess." He told her.
She nodded.
He reached for the frozen tater-tots. The bacon in the skillet was already sizzling.
He sounds like a good enough cook.

Oh very interesting part
ReplyDeleteI think it's quite possible she is thinking too much. I do it all the time.
ReplyDeleteEmily's oscillating between Bishop and Liam, and doesn't seem to find her place. Perhaps she needs some adult advice.
ReplyDeleteTürkiye'den sevgiler.
ReplyDeleteLove from Turkey.💕🌸🌺💕 thanks so much💕
DeleteSuper :-)
ReplyDeleteI suppose it was only a matter of time before the Emily/Liam engagement began to unravel. As you know, I wasn't a big Emily fan at the start -- she seemed kind of bossy -- but she's grown on me, and now I feel sorry for her. I hope that she and Liam figure out what's best for them. Even if that last veggie-free sentence doesn't bode well: "He reached for the frozen tater-tots. The bacon in the skillet was already sizzling."
ReplyDeleteThat's cool that you joined the Future Farmers of America back in high school just to be the only girl. Way to stick it to the patriarchy! Also, I like that you plan to upcycle your old pink lace thing -- it sounds like it could be a real conversation piece. Your muc muc dolls and glittery wristband also sound awesome. Who knew you could do so much with socks?! I bet you have a whole houseful of lovely creations. Congrats on making it through another week; I hope you had a much-deserved wonderful weekend! :)
