As luck would have it

"It's really unusual, that  you haven't moved in with..your boyfriend, yet?" Xander wouldn't even say Declan's name.

Simon looked at this brother as if it wasn't that unusual.

"Oh, I remember how you couldn't wait for Steve to move in with you," Xander didn't smirk but Simon knew he wanted to. They went on ahead of preparing the meal together. Simon did the prepping and Xander did the stirfrying.

"I've learned a lot," Simon said about his experience with Steve. "I'm just being careful."

"I see." His brother nodded.

"Besides, you..you made such a big deal about it. You know, that I needed to take care of myself and you know, figure things out." Simon wasn't sure why they were having this conversation now.

"And have you?" His brother looked at him.

"I think so..but.."

"But what?" Xander looked at him as if he needed to tell him the truth and not make this some insignificant conversation.

"Oh, it's just," Simon winced about then and stopped chopping red peppers. He sighed. "I don't think I can live with Declan."

"Really?" Naturally, Xander didn't say he should or he shouldn't.

"Um, it's like he's got his own home with..with his best friend," Simon shrugged as if he might be imposing on their situation.

"Is there anything else about the situation that makes you feel-"

Simon laughed. "No, no..things are fine with Declan and me." Usually, their weekends were full of places to go and it was good. Just not great. After all, he was here this Saturday evening for a family dinner. Declan was spending time with Reese, there was a fundraiser at the museum.

Just about then, he got a text, but it wasn't from Declan. It was Chevy.

Simon winced hard. It was something about Chevy was moving.

"What's wrong?" Xander wanted to know.

"I'm not sure," Simon wondered what had happened. He called just to find out.

"I shouldn't have bothered you," Chevy started.

"You're not, what's going on?" For the first time Simon was afraid he wouldn't see Chevy anymore. Maybe he'd gotten a job in Chicago or even Lincoln. If only Chevy talked to him more.

"Oh, it's really," he sounded tired. "I dunno, it's cold here. I mean there is power but the furnace doesn't work." It was then he spoke of his inheritance. "I have no choice to sell it, but I wanted to see how bad it was first. And, it's really bad."

He gave Simon the address.

"Hey, that's right around the corner from me," Simon smiled.

"Really?"

"Come to dinner."

"Oh, I couldn't." Chevy sounded as if he'd said too much and didn't want to start anything between him and Declan.

"I'm at my brother's. Declan's not even here." Simon assured him he needed a hot meal and they'd talk about the house after dinner.

  11. Yes, Simon and Chevy! I've been hoping for that to happen. Maybe they can work on Chevy's new old house with Mick and Jools, like a double date. :)

That's great that your friend was in awe of the sparkly unicorn frames you gave her! Sometimes it's the cheapest gifts that are the best, especially when they're girly and fanciful. :)
