Once upon a time

 Slater thought he'd finished throwing up, but the thought of the news made him vomit one more time until it was just green from a soured stomach. He flushed the toilet in the hospital bathroom and went to rinse out his throat. Why did he have to feel so weak?

Of course, Misty was awake by the time he got back to her. There was an IV hooked up to her arm, out of precaution and for hydration.

"Why is it you, who got sick instead of me?" She asked as if she was taking notes from here on out about the pregnancy.

"I guess I'm excited." He looked at her and almost smirked as he took the seat closest to the bed.

"Oh, you are just a kid." She sighed as if she would not speak of the matter.

"They say you are farther along-"

"Well, not that far along." She practically snapped, as if he better not go thinking the baby was someone else's. 

He bit a grin, thinking it probably didn't happen the first time. There had been plenty of chances. Actually, they knew they were too tired to think about anything. He didn't know what she wanted to do. Naturally, he thought she'd be angry with him for several months, but he didn't sense it at the moment. Although, her arms were crossed and she did look at him a little bitter.

Slater touched his forehead. He was certain he had a fever. The next thing he knew when the nurse came Misty asked if she could get his temp taken. Thankfully, he was just fine. Slater felt bad to put the nurse through this, but he knew if he had a fever Misty would have told him to go. 

"Did you want me to stay at your place, for now?" A part of him felt he was only a servant and not much else.

"Well, of course, I want you there." She looked hurt that he'd even ask.
