February's highs and lows

"That's good to hear," Liam wanted to be excited for his friend Keir and his newfound love.

"She's so beautiful," he said over the phone. Liam was glad they kept in contact. It was good to know Keir was doing OK. He texted Alison a lot and he'd even met up with her on a date in Lincoln. Things seem to be off to a great start.

"They'll be married before we are, at this rate," Emily sighed when he finished up his conversation with Keir. After all, she had hot chocolate waiting for him. He'd put in a good hour or so snowblowing the driveway once again and a couple of neighbor's driveways too. "You should have told him how tired you were and what all you've been doing."

"I couldn't do that." Liam shook his head no. "I'm happy for him. He needed to find someone..and well, someone found him."

"You're so much more romantic than I thought you were," Emily winced back and took a sip of hot chocolate. She had homemade chocolate chip cookies to dip into the hot chocolate. Actually, it wasn't a tradition that Liam was used to, but he enjoyed it too.

"Gosh, I can't believe you'd let me know just how much you really gush over me," he smirked back. "We're gonna get married. Soon." He was then serious.

She only nodded, but she looked a bit sleepy and tired.

"But, you are a workaholic, you know." He couldn't change her mind about her job. He felt it was the waiting game on so many things these days, like her back surgery. There was no place to even get married. Still, they had their wedding license. That had to count for something. Still, it felt as if they were lost in winter. It felt bleak with so many gray days, and when the sun did appear it was time to get out the sunshades. If they did get the ceremony over, it didn't look like there would be a honeymoon anytime soon. They were the type that didn't make time for anything.

"So you say," Emily yawned. Liam yawned right back. Finally, a day off and they were ready to sleep most of it away.

  7. Winter is indeed a bleak time. Which makes it just the right backdrop for Liam and Emily's conundrum. I'm starting to think that they won't get married at all. Or maybe that's just a red herring. We shall see!

I heard that the Midwest got hit with another snowstorm and wondered if that included you. I was glad when you commented that it missed you. I hope that all is well at the library too and that you get time to work on all your projects. :)

    1. Thanks so much. Just bitter cold here. I'm afraid. Unfortunately, a barn caught on fire full of horses in a nearby town so there was a grass fire to put out. The horses are OK.
