"What did you put in this tea?" Melissa was pleased with the warm mug of tea that Rylie brought her. It was a relief to find a real friend/co-worker at the Maker's Space.
"Nothing that special," she shrugged as she sat with her in the breakroom. It was just Earl Grey, a spoon or two of pure cane sugar and of course some half and half.
"It's better than that place I get Boba Tea," Melissa nodded. "I think I have to stop eating those bobas evidently." She did have some stomach issues or maybe her nerves weren't exactly settled even if she'd been here all these months.
"You don't think it's dairy?" Rylie told her her favorite nut milks. There was a bakery that she knew that made almond flour shortbread cookies that were amazing. Except the price was a little steep.
"We will see," she sipped the tea, hoping she didn't have to run to the bathroom anytime soon.
"So we are from the same place, but we don't know any of the same people," Rylie confessed.
"That's so strange because it's not that big of a place." Except Melissa had gone to WEST and Rylie had gone to EAST. Rylie was evidently a good five years younger than Melissa, but Rylie made up the Children's Storytime at the Maker's Space. A nice edition mostly only weekends, but she was already gearing up for a summer reading program even if she was still at the University.
"A good friend of mine had a very bad Valentine's Day," Rylie then shrugged. "I guess she's just too much in a hurry to grow up."
"Well, my little sister moved in with her boyfriend," Melissa told Rylie.
"But, she's out of school. She's not a high schooler." Although, Rylie got crossed examined a lot about being so young and thin. She was like a playful wren with all those little ones. And her laugh was so loud. It was kind of funny. Yet, Melissa enjoyed her laugh.
"The next time you go home, I can come with you," Rylie said she hadn't been home in a while, but the gas prices were so expensive these days. "I could help with gas."
"Sure," Melissa nodded. Still, she wasn't sure what Victoria would think. Probably the worst.
Ooh this will be a fun relationship to watch! I like the sound of The Maker's Space.
ReplyDeleteAnd I see what The Thing About Pam is now! I wasn't familiar with that show and then saw an ad for it streaming on Peacock, I think? It looks great. I'm not familiar with Elizabeth Engstrm but now I'm going to look at her books... :)
Will be interesting to see what Victoria thinks.
ReplyDeletegas price and inflation make live harder...

DeleteUy que dulce como ayuda y si aquí tambien esta cara la gasolina. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteI almost forgot about Victoria and Melissa! I hope Melissa continues to hit things off with her "playful little wren" of a Rylie. It looks like there's promise there!
ReplyDeleteI watched the first two episodes of The Thing About Pam today. It's so weird! And a bit grimmer than I was expecting. But definitely gripping. Pam's out-there yet strangely familiar character alone is worth watching.
Such a beautiful pink collage! :)
Very good post.
ReplyDeleteRegards.
