The more that you say, the less I know

 

Maybe Mick liked texting his thoughts to Chevy better than actually seeing him in person, but they'd made it down to the old diner on Main Street for breakfast. Funny, how it was just the two of them.

Naturally, neither said much until after they ordered and the coffee came. Thank God, they were the only two there on a Sunday morning.

"So did it happen?" was the big question.

"No." Mick said it was really close to something, but then Jools wasn't in the mood. There was a certain restless emotion that Mick didn't know what to make of. And it confused him, all the more.

Chevy nodded, but didn't ask anything else. He put cream in his coffee and stirred. Mick watched him drink the hot brew in silence.

"Do you think I did something wrong?" Mick was a bit alarmed. Why was it like this? 

"I doubt it," Chevy kind of winked, but he had something in his eye. Still Mick thought he saw a little smile. "Look, you can't just have all these expectations. You.." he sighed. "You might be making a big deal out of something that shouldn't be that big of a deal."

"Huh?" Mick cradled his cup. He finally took a sip of bitterness and then remembered he liked cream and sugar in his coffee so he doctored it up. 

"Just stop pressuring him," Chevy said. "It'll happen when it happens and just... you know, make the best of each moment."

"So..so that's what you and Simon-"

"God no," Chevy cracked up. "I can't even imagine, but maybe..maybe it'll be like that for Simon some day with somebody, just not me."

Mick felt sad for Chevy, but he remembered feeling that way with Jools, but finally, they were together. Still, not enough to make a porn. Evidently. Not that he wanted a movie, only in his head.

"And..and why is that?" Mick wanted to know. Of course, the pancakes, eggs, and sausage were already placed before them.

Chevy only sighed. He said he wanted to eat this while it was hot. In fact, he said he had no love life to talk about.
