"Just listen to me, will you?" Finn knew she was mad. "It isn't all bad, is it?"
Naturally, Oakley had been in a tizzy since seeing her mother and brother. It was as if she didn't want to be put in the spotlight. Evidently.
But they were back at the apartment now, and how he wished he didn't have to put up with Dory. Sure, he didn't mind sharing his room with Oakley. After all, he was trying to keep the peace.
"Don't you see," Finn winced as if he thought the truth was in front of Oakley's eyes, yet he could see they were possibly in a completely different book from each other. "Dory is out for revenge."
"Revenge?" Oakley squinted hard and shook her head, no.
"You don't really like him, right?" Finn hoped he hadn't overstepped his bound.
She shook her head, no and was even lipped.
Finn went to make tea, something soothing like Camille.
"He thinks you and Smed," Finn sighed as if the thought really was ridiculous. "Were..were together."
"What?" Oakley practically laughed.
"Oh, he's mad at Smed because, well..all that was on Smed's mind was to get to Paris and that's just what he did." Finn nodded. "I admire him for that, but..but..but he left Dory behind and he can hardly stand it..because..because I know he might never admit it, but he's in love with Smed."
Oakley's eye shot him a look as if that had to be impossible.
"Look, he still talks about him, all the time," Finn told her as he got the cups rinsed and ready. "I know it hurt when..when Smed just left like he did. He never calls, not even a text. I think..I think this is his way to get back at Smed. You know, you moving in with him."
"But-" She fumed as if she didn't need this on top of everything else with her mother.
Finn smiled at her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "I wish you could see how happy they are for you. You having... the time of your life with your music. They are so happy for you. You have to enjoy the moment."
Oakley nodded then, but he could see she was mute on the state of things. He hugged her to let her know he was here for her.

It's so significant that he says she's "having the time of her life with her music." It's heartfelt and beautiful, and connects her to her parents in a way that's meaningful.
