Do you have the time

Melissa didn't know why Rylie wanted to be on Zelli's side.

"We can't choose sides," Melissa said.

Rylie reminded her that Zelli was their friend too. "We need to know if she's OK."

"Wasn't she going to Florida, anyway?" Melissa kept cleaning the kitchen while Rylie tried Zelli's number again. This time, the phone was shut off.

Rylie didn't look happy about it. Of course, she thought the worst. "What if she got in an accident on her motorcycle?"

"Oh, stop it." Melissa fretted. "She's fine. I bet she's fine."

"I know she's a little immature. I mean, she looks hardly old enough to be on her own, but..but she graduated from the University some time ago and..and.."

"And she's stuck there." Melissa decided. "I imagine she just wants to grow up the best way she knows how."

"But she's kind of reckless," Rylie reminded her as she got out the lemonade from the fridge.

Melissa nodded. No way were either of them going to spend money on a motorcycle and take off to god knows where. They were really homebodies. "I can understand why Yuki wouldn't want to just take off like that." She sighed. "Still, Emily being pregnant and all and to have that Axel still around."

"Axton." Rylie corrected.

"I think something is wrong with her," Melissa spoke aloud while wiping down the kitchen counter.

"With who?" Rylie glared at her.

"Oh, that Emily," Melissa winced. "I just don't think she's all there, you know."

"How could you say that?" Rylie looked as if she didn't like her attitude.

"It's just, you know, she could have been upfront with Yuki. I mean, the girl can't keep a job. Has she ever really worked? She never says anything. She never smiles. She must be autistic."

"Just stop." Rylie got on her phone and made another call. Melissa couldn't imagine who she was calling.

"Hey, how are you guys?" Rylie was smiling already when she spoke. "Do you think we could interest you guys in dinner?"

Melissa winced at her, wondering what that was about. Here she'd worked all of Saturday morning to get the house picked up and Rylie was inviting company.

"Yuki and Em are coming down," Rylie informed Melissa.

"Oh really, and who's cooking?"

"Brandon, of course," she smirked.

  3. Melissa doesn't seem happy about this. :) Should be an interesting dinner. A little difference of opinion there over the Yuki thing...

  7. Couple friend drama sometimes brings out the worst in people! Yet when Melissa unkindly labels Emily as autistic, even I was taken aback. First, because Em never struck me that way, but also because Melissa was being so cruel. It's no wonder Rylie invited Em and Yuki to dinner! Maybe after they all share a meal, Melissa will feel more sympathetic. And of course, I love that perfect last line. Resident chef Brandon to the rescue! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿ—
