The wedding was coming! And Niah seemed to be the only one who knew what she was wearing.
Poppy asked for bridesmaids, but everyone was busy. Finally, there was Rachel to lean on. She would at least do it. "And Zoey!" Poppy pointed to the ceiling. After all, she lived a floor above her, but she lived with Alfie.
"What's Jory going to think?" Rachel looked at her as if that would not work.
"I'm going to ask, who cares what Jory thinks, he hates everything," Poppy didn't look worried. After all, Joon and Bom's parents were coming. They had found a clubhouse at golf course nearby for the festivities. It was all coming into place. No phone calls to wait on to see what they would need to supply.
"But you know, he really hates Alfie the most," Rachel did have to sigh about it. For a second she thought maybe she should just say NO and keep Jory away from the wedding, but she would be the matron of honor and that felt like, well possibly pagent worthy these days.
"Do I care?" Poppy batted her big eyelashes. "He's just an overgrown kid, anyway." She sounded as if she knew who Rachel had her hands full with, it wasn't their little one.
"Well, he can be so.."
"He's childish." Poppy knew. "Oh, he thinks he's your knight and shining armor, but really he just wants to be babied and we both know what a big baby he can be." She crossed her arms while Rachel looked through the dresses that Poppy wanted in her wedding. It was more style than cost. Poppy was up for sewing if that would help cut the cost.
Rachel nodded. It had been a long time since she'd dressed up for anything. After all, she was in a uniform at school, which was basically carebear scrubs.
Of course, she knew she couldn't sedate him, he might really go off the deep end. "Tell me, will there be booze at the wedding?"
"Nope," Poppy assured her Joon didn't drink alcohol, and neither did she.
"Good." That was a relief. She'd find a way somehow to keep Jory in line.
"I don't know how you can be friends with him," Jory said while he and Gage were in the locker room at the post office. They were just getting off work.
"What do you mean? Alfie?" Gage winced thinking maybe Jory mentioned his best friend before, but maybe he just thought he did. Really, he had a lot going on these days with Nora and Alec and the adoption.
"Yeah, that guy." Jory chatted about how Rachel was going to be in Poppy's wedding and she wanted Alfie's girlfriend to be in it too. "How can she be friends with all her exes?"
"Oh." Gage squinted as he took his backpack and slammed the locker shut. He wondered if he was considered an ex of Poppy's. He really was never a full fledge boyfriend. He didn't think. "Are you an ex of hers?"
Jory sighed heavily. "If it wasn't for that bastard, I might still be with Poppy."
Gage didn't know where this was going. "But, you know..you and Rachel..."
"What about us?" He shot him a look. "You think I was on the rebound, don't you?"
"I don't want to go there," Gage kind of laughed. "Sometimes, you don't always win..and look, you have a sweet family. Maybe..maybe it wasn't supposed to work with Poppy."
"Yeah, I know that." Jory looked at him blankly. "But it didn't work out with Alfie, either. Did it?"
Gage nodded. "Well, after all aren't we just shooting stars? It can be a lot of hit and miss, you know."
Jory was quiet then.
"I don't know how you can be friends with him," Jory sounded as if Alfie hadn't changed, but of course, Gage knew everything changed, all the time. Sometimes, it took forever to notice.
i hate those kind of men who are ment to be big babies for all their life....
ReplyDeleteThis chapter sounds interesting...
ReplyDeleteSo much going on with people's thoughts about each other.
ReplyDeleteAnd Zoey! No booze for Jory. Jory seems bitter- nice to see his convo with Gage after hearing the girls above- but I loved Gage's reply about shooting stars.
ReplyDeleteHello!! Great chapter!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!!
Wow, wedding drama here we come! I agree with Poppy that Jory is being "a big baby" about Alfie attending Poppy and Joon's wedding. Then again, Jory is Rachel's problem now, so I don't blame her for being concerned. At least there won't be any alcohol to fuel the fire! Gage and Jory's convo is an interesting counterpoint. Also, I almost forgot that Gage and Poppy used to be a thing. Which is funny, since that's how Gage and Alfie became besties. Anyway, Gage is levelheaded as always, trying to talk Jory down.
ReplyDeleteNiah is so sweet in the collage! I love her little outfit! ππππππ
Your crochet dumpling cats sound like a fun project, even if the ears are harder than you thought they would be. And your Barbie bags sound super cute. I'm so glad you adore them. Sometimes there's no better feeling than looking at something cool and thinking, I made that! πΈππ§πΈππ§
Genial fragmento Gage a madurado. Te mando un beso.
