two weddings and some after thoughts

Poppy's wedding came first. It was actually at the golf course near the assisted living place where her mother was cared for. Alfie knew this story, of course, he had to keep his lips sealed.

Funny, how his friends and enemies were all there from Jory and his sister Lynsey and even Poppy's dad. Why was he even here? He knew the looks on their faces, but he didn't care. Zoey was in the wedding. Even Nora had a part. It was a lovely August wedding with a feast of cupcakes and fizzy punch. Nothing too fancy.

But Poppy looked lovely and so did the bridal party. Yes, the one to watch for was, of course, Joon's little daughter.

Music played afterward and everyone danced on the basketball court. It was all so simple and everyone was very happy.

Joon's parents came from Seoul and his step-sister looked pleased to see their parents too.

Alfie found himself crying on a sunny day.

"But why?" Boone winced hard. "What's wrong with you, man?" Of course, he was tending to cupcakes he was certain would melt in the sun. Nothing sentimental hit him about the occasion.

"What would we do, if..if our real mother actually came to something like this?" Alfie mused over puffs of raspberry sherbert in his drink.

"Oh, so you're going to make that happen? Are you?" Boone looked at him as if that would be a miracle. "I still want to meet her, you know.  But she hates me, so.." He shrugged as if Alfie was happily daydreaming.

"Well, I'm not banking on anything of the sort," Alfie lightly sighed. "I've got you, and you would be my best man and that's all that matters."

Boone smiled at him and gave him a slap on the back. "And don't forget Phil."

"Phil?" Alfie looked at him kind of funny. What was going on?

Later in the week, after Nora and Gage got everything done at the courthouse, They all met up again at Christine's for a casual backyard wedding. It was fitting and very short. Of course, Alec was Gage's best man and Jory was in the picture again.

Alfie sighed. He knew Jory worked with Gage, but it wasn't until now that he felt Gage was having to make choices about who would be by his side. So he went with his son, Alec.

It didn't exactly irk Alfie. Still, he knew in his own wedding, Gage would be his best man. God, he hoped Jory didn't show up.

  7. Two weddings! I was quite touched when Alfie started crying. Issues or not, he's sensitive and has a good heart. I can also understand why he'd be a little hurt over Gage's divided loyalties (always so much trouble with Jory!). But then again, you know I always feel for Gage too. Speaking of which, I'm so glad that he and Nora finally tied the knot! 💍💗💍💗💍💗💍💗💍💗
