"Well, I don't need a choir boy," KC snapped at the notion of Brick joining the band. But Rafe was a no show. "What the hell is going on with him," KC said under his breath as he looked for Rafe's text, but there wasn't one.
KC looked back at Brick holding Harley's hand on his couch in his livingroom. It made him squirm. He didn't want to have anything to do with Harley's boyfriend.
"I can," Brick cleared his throat, as he looked over at Harley. "sing what..whatever you want."
KC practically rolled his eyes at that. Why couldn't anything stay the same? Sure Rafe was just a girl magnet. Although, secretly, KC thought of himself being one too. But he wasn't the arrogant type about it. Of course, when he looked at Brick, he thought of Brick being brilliantly arrogant. His lashes were too long and he was so damn tall. It would look so freaky.
KC shook his head to think of the outcome.
"Rafe isn't coming," he finally decided. It was either Brick or nothing. "Can you even play a guitar?"
Brick nodded. He had his own electric. This made KC fume more. But in a minute or two they were all set up at KC's place and they began to play, sort of like old times.
Oddly, Brick could really bring it and he sang like a force of nature. Definitely, KC didn't see this coming. It didn't mean he liked it, but they might have a good chance on Open Mic at the Old Sokal after all.
"What are you doing here?" Junie's voice made Rafe jump. Of course, he'd been googling over Chili for a good hour or so. He'd lost track of time. He didn't have to be at the bakery until later.
"Are you an idiot or what?" She had no qualms to tell him that her step-brother needed him for his band, and she was not alone. There was a girl with the biggest blueberry eyes and she just stared at him without saying a word.
He looked at Chili who already had two milk teas waiting for them.
"So Maddie are you really going to school here? You could be in Germany right now?" Chili asked. The girl shrugged and took the tea.
Rafe's eyes were wide open. Who was she? And Chili knew her too? Rafe couldn't help to be stunned. He'd said to Chili earlier that he wanted to work here, but she reminded him that he had a job already. She said he had school to think about too.
Before he knew it, it was as if she took his cue, she was introducing him to Maddie. "I bet you could show her around. She's a senior too."
She was also Junie's cousin. Rafe practically snarled at that. Oh, he didn't want to go out with anybody's cousin ever again. Sure enough, he found himself walking back to the KC's with the both of them. Chili gave him a milk tea and told him to behave.
"She's really shy," he remembered Chili saying, but Maddie walked by his side as if she might not be afraid of him, after all.
Other amazing chapter! I really like it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing ^^
Have a nice week
Kisses!
ELO. YES. Will have this song all day now in my head!
ReplyDeleteFanta too.
Now THIS is interesting. Brick can bring it, and Rafe meanwhile is at the coffee shop lol. Chili seems popular. :) And now Maddie. Watch out Rafe!!!
I guess Brick surprised KC with his playing so what will happen to Rafe and Maddie.
ReplyDeletelove milk tea too....

Uy genial fragmento. Espero saber que pasara con Rafe y Madie. Te mando un beso.

ReplyDeletejuntos formam uma boa banda.
Beijos! :)
Despite the differences between them,
Deletetogether they form a good band.
Kisses! :)
(✿◡‿◡)(✿◕‿◕✿) Thanks!
So it turns out that Brick isn't a choir boy after all. I was (pleasantly!) surprised that he could rock out and loved that he shattered KC's expectations. Of course, sparks are sure to fly with both Harley's admirers being in the band . . . ๐น๐ต๐ธ
ReplyDeleteAnd then there's Rafe, late to the party and with Maddie in tow. So much for never dating anyone's cousin again! ๐๐ถ
Thanks for your kind words about my new blue shoes. They're really comfy, which is rare indeed! ๐๐
