Hold On

 

"Oh, that Riley," Brandon shook his head. He couldn't believe the phone call he just had. After all, he was trying to clean out the fridge.

"What is it this time?" Declan wanted to know who was at his laptop at the dining table which was perhaps his other office when he wasn't at work.

"Evidently, she has found Zelli," he sighed. "And she wants to go see her in Denver."

Declan nodded not thinking much of it. "Is Melissa going?" He then asked.

"I dunno. I don't think she wants too." He went on with tossing the bad leftovers in the trash. 

"But, they do everything together. No way, would Melissa let Riley go on her own." Declan told him. Of course, he didn't budge from the dining table. He always stayed out of the way when Brandon was cleaning the kitchen.

"Could be a first time," Brandon knew Riley was set on going to Denver.

"Why can't she just leave well enough alone," Declan scowled. "Yuki's with Em, they're having a baby. Why does she want to do this?"

"I guess she's worried about her," Brandon thought Riley did sound a little restless when she talked of her. It was definitely important because Riley never called. She usually texted.

"Do you think something is going on with Riley and Melissa that we don't know?" Declan did look alarmed as if maybe their best friends were breaking up.

"Riley would have said something," Brandon winced as he took out the old trashbag and put in a new one. "I just think ..they think Yuki was better off with Zelli."

"What? No, really?" Delcan's forehead wrinkled in thought. "But I like Em..and.."

"I know, me too." He sighed. Just then his phone rang in his back pocket. It was a phone call from overseas.
