It takes some time just to learn someone

"I found her!" Riley said with glee. She studied the text once more that Zelli sent her. She couldn't believe Zelli ignored her texts until now.

"What are you talking about?" Melissa was busy checking the pumpkin bread in the oven. They had several loaves going. Some of it was for work and some for Yuki and Em because they always seemed to have a full house lately with Amy, Jen, and Stan around.

"Zelli," Riley looked at her as if how could she forget their friend.

"Zelli?" Melissa looked stumped. "Is she in Florida?"

"No," Riley told her that Zelli did go on a motorcycle trip. She'd met some people going to the Black Hills.

"The Black Hills?" Melissa made it sound dangerous as she took out a loaf of savory pumpkin bread. She then topped it with a sweet lemony drippy icing that would keep the bread moist.

"Well, she was there for a while, then she went to Denver," Riley nodded as if she might be reading Zelli's novel on her phone.

"Denver? Another place I've never gone to, maybe we could see her sometime. Did she meet anyone?" Melissa wanted to know as she took another loaf out and quickly iced it with powdered sugar icing and lemon juice.

"Kind of, I mean it sounds like she is in an old house full of people who just train for Ninja Warrior," Riley shrugged.

"She would," Melissa sighed as if maybe Zelli wasn't quite normal after all.

"I'd like to try that," Riley then said.

Melissa shot her a look, "Go ahead, I'll be waiting at home for you." She put her hands on her hips as if no way was this homebody going anywhere.

Riley smiled at her. "You know, I wouldn't go anywhere without you." Of course, they both wondered if they should mention this to Yuki. Did Yuki need to know anything, anymore about her ex, who was now in Denver and thinking about moving to California?

  8. Zelli returns! If only in spirit. This part cracked me up:

I love how this exchange highlights the differences between adventurous Riley and stay-at-home Melissa, then reins it back in and shows us how they're always there for each other.

As for Zelli's life, it sounds like a story in and of itself! 🚦🌅🧳🚦🌅🧳
