"Should I have witnesses or something?" Alfie sighed. He knew Gage wasn't listening. They were looking at engagement rings at the local jewelry store. Of course, he knew he could get one cheaper on Amazon.
As it was he felt he was behind in the game. First Steve. Now Gage. Gage was going to be a father of two. Oh, Alfie didn't see this coming.
"You devil you," he'd wanted to say but he knew Gage would look at him as if they knew who the real devil was.
"You've just been lucky," Gage nodded.
"Lucky? Me? No, you're the lucky one, my man." Alfie gave him a pat on the back. Of course, he didn't find anything that spoke to him as the engagement ring to get. He went back to studying the rings. What would she want?
"Dad tried to give me the engagement ring he gave mom, but I wouldn't take it. Why should I," he told Gage. "I don't want his bad luck."
"Where did your parents meet, anyway?" Gage's question only made Alfie's eyes roll. Couldn't he stay focused?
"College, I guess." He shrugged.
"And you two met at CVS," Gage smirked.
"Yes, we did," Alfie smirked back.
"Gosh, we are going to have to do this together." Alfie looked at Gage very seriously.
"And then we'll have dinner at our place and you can propose before or after dinner," Gage nodded.
"I want to do this before dinner. I don't like waiting," Alfie nodded.
"Yeah, I figured as much," Gage said he'd get the steaks.
"I'll bring cheesecake," Alfie decided.
"Are you going to hide the ring in the cheesecake?" Gage said as they were leaving and after Alfie thanked the sales guy for his help.
"No, I don't want her to choke on her engagement ring," Alfie squinted. "We are doing this before dinner. Not after. Are you listening to me?"
"But, you're always changing your mind, Alfie." Gage cracked a smile then.
"Not anymore." Aflie was definitely serious now.
I love that they met at CVS. Wow Alfie's doing this! I can't wait to see where THIS goes ::
ReplyDeleteLOL..actually, I visit the drugstore quite often. If only Alfie worked there!
DeleteBuying an engagement ring must have meant a big step for Alphie. Hopefully, he"ll soon be buying a wedding ring.
ReplyDeletehaha this idea with hidding ring in cheescake sounds kind of fun:D
ReplyDeleteUntil you bite into it.
DeleteThis sounds very interesting, hope everything goes nice and smooth.
ReplyDeleteInteresting
ReplyDeleteI read it with great curiosity.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting.
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a very good idea to hide the engagement ring in the cheesecake, what if she swallows it??? I'm curious to know what will happen!!! I wish you a happy and productive and creative week! hugs!!!
xoxo
Interesting!
ReplyDeleteOoooooo....an engagement? Will it happen? Will they end up together? Ellie, you do know how to create drama so it'll be interesting to see what happens! :)
ReplyDeletePS Just been watching animés lately so I'm so behind all my Asian shows! Sigh....and have a great November too!
Yay, Alfie! He's grown into such a fine young man! And I love that his best bro Gage is part of the engagement planning. I agree that it's best to pop the question before dinner -- as opposed to hiding the ring in the cheesecake! 💍🧀🍰
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Yes, I'm glad Alfie is growing up too. And I am glad he is just as good for Zoey as she is for him. Of course, I'm glad he has Boone, too...and of course, Gage!
DeleteAlthough, his character has been away from the blog for sometime. I'm glad to bring him back. I think his character has grown a lot too.
