"I think she's upset with me," Yuki looked a little sad when she got off the phone with Riley.
Em sighed with her and gave her a hug. It felt as if the sad days were here to stay.
"We can't even see them. They both have COVID," Yuki told her.
"Really?" Em felt she was even too close to Yuki now. Of course, she was too tired to worry about it. She stayed home. She seldom left the house. It was all so scary these days. She was horrified about what was happening in other parts of the world. Of course, she was just as scared here too. But she did her best not to let it show.
She just kept cooking and cleaning and then there was the mending pile. It was like being in her own prison. Of course, she didn't know where she would go, anyway. She just had to stay away from everyone. Besides, her stomach was growing.
"I knew Brandon wanted to call, but you know, they are so busy with the baby, and well, I-"
"You and Axton worked hard getting that room ready, and Chili helped," Em felt bad that she wasn't there, but it was good to let them do the work. "You are the best."
Funny, she remembered Remi telling her this. Of course, Remi dropped by daily with samples from the drugstore. They would never run out of soap now.
Em didn't like keeping it a secret, but Remi was full of old stories about Yuki. And deep down, she knew Remi was proud of her too. Only they weren't speaking to each other.
Em would ask about Wolf and Remi had plenty to say about him. She said he was stubborn, but she figured Remi was the stubborn one.
"Well, he's still hanging around," Em reminded her.
"Oh, he's got no place to go." Remi was simple at heart. They might as well have been thieves, but Em knew they were both making an honest living.
"I want you to come for Thanksgiving," Em decided.
"You are really thinking so far ahead," Remi laughed. "Of course, we'll come."
It was just Em hadn't got up the nerve to tell Yuki about the matter.
Fajnie :) Pozdrawiam

ReplyDeleteOh-oh- could be an interesting Thanksgiving. :)
ReplyDeleteThe story was well written, but I don't even want to think about Covid.

Veremos que pasa en día de acción de gracias. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice chapter, well written.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
Oh yes the packaging is really nice =) I can store them until April, that's a good time to test it :D
ReplyDeleteA nice chapter again, it's really nice to read.
Oh boy, guess who's coming to dinner! I think it's nice that Remi's friends with Emily, though, and that she gives her samples of soap. Still, I wouldn't blame Yuki one bit if she didn't want to see her. What happened between them was so traumatic, and I think it'd take a long time to heal. 🧼💔🧼💔
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that people are reading, even if it does mean busy times at the library. That's terrible about your crown; the husband's had a couple, so I know they aren't fun. Especially on top of the stress of hosting Thanksgiving! That's such a shame about your coworkers, too. I hate that COVID's on the rise again. I wish them -- and you (in the crown department) a speedy recovery! 📕🦷🍗📕🦷🍗
