Darling, so it goes

Dory was still in shock that Boone had confided in him so much while out driving. It was as if, Boone was testing him in..he closed his eyes. Yes, driving made him so nervous. Even in an empty parking lot. But they just kept going and Boone kept talking about all his troubles with Lily. Yes, maybe it was a good time for him to vent.

"I want to do the right thing. I do. It's just I was trying so hard not to do anything wrong..and I did anyway." He said one moment and then in the next breath. "They will be happy? Everyone will be happy, right?" He kept looking at Dory and he tried not to look at him because Boone would say, "Look at the road dude, you gotta look where you're going."

"I'm going to wait," Boone sighed. "Wait, and see what happens. I think she really wants a baby." He nodded. "I know I'm pretty adorable and all, and..and who wouldn't want a kid..with  me, right?" He looked happy about it, but in the next breath, he was a nervous wreck. God, he was all over the place and Dory was making circles in that old car of Boone's.

"Jesus, I don't even know if this car is..is fit to even bring home a baby in!" Boone hit the dashboard with his palm and the car practically shook. Dory did his best not to notice.

Now, he felt the need to talk to Cedric about this. But he didn't really know anything. Yet Boone was upset and Dory had a feeling his days were numbered at the apartment. He wished Phil was here to talk to Boone.

"So are you ready to drive with me?" Cedric woke up his miserable thoughts of what the next step might be for Boone and Lily's future.

"Oh, it was only the parking lot," Dory tried to smile. Maybe taking the bus wasn't the worst thing. "You've got a lot of bus transportation where you live."

"You just don't look like the type who would take the bus," Cedric told him. They were alone in the apartment and Cedric was playing with Madonna. She was giving him love bites on his wrist and thumb.

"It wouldn't be that bad, would it?" Dory went on to say.

"What are you saying?" Cedric looked up at him.

"You know, if I was there," he nodded.

"I'd rather be here, I hate that part of town," he told him. "I'd like to live out here." He went on to say he'd been wanting to move for some time now. He wanted to do it before it got too late. Cedric reminded him how bad next year might get with the economy.

Dory felt as if something got caught in his throat. Maybe he was coming down with something. He remained even-lipped.

Cedric pulled out a thick pamphlet from his back pocket. "I found this from when I got my license. I don't think that much has changed." He said the driver's test and manual were online now. "Maybe you could study it. I could test you," his smile was quick as he handed it to him.

Dory just stared at it while Cedric ruffled up his hair. It was hard to think which one was the biggest fool. Himself or maybe Boone.

  3. Boone's freaking out! And I love that last line. Cedric and Dory seem to go in fits and starts, but hey- progress is progress? :)

I'm worried how things will go with Boone and Lily.

  7. We always try to make the right choices for ourselves, the problem is that other people also make the right choices for themselves, which do not always match our choices.

  9. Ah, so driving with Cedric promises to be better than driving with Boone. Interesting. As is Boone's assumption that Lily wants a baby. I'm not sure about that -- but then, who knows? Hopefully, the driving lessons will bring Dory and Cedric closer. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜
