"I'm thinking they'll get married," Axton got to the point. He showed up after work to talk with Chili who was still in the kitchen of the coffee shop even if it was closed.
"Yuki and Em?" Chili looked back at him, wondering why he brought this up now.
"If it were me, I'd just do it," he sighed. He wanted them to get it over with. "I know I would."
"Well, it is something you all three need to talk about," Chili told him. She picked up the last of the strawberry shortcake and handed it to him as if he really needed a treat.
"I just..I just don't know how," sure it was stressing him out. He wasn't sure how Yuki felt about the matter. "I know they want to be a family." He'd seen them getting closer. It was natural and it was something he knew he had to get used to. After all, he was the third wheel. "Maybe..maybe I shouldn't have brought it up." He wasn't sure he was even Chili's friend. "I should..I should just get out of here and leave you to your business." Axton stressed a smile, but really he was a sad sod and Chili probably knew it.
"It's fine. I'm glad you showed up when you did," She smiled back and went to make him a cup of fresh coffee. "I know none of this is easy for you..and maybe..maybe you shouldn't be there anymore."
He shook his head, no. He said it was his home. They needed him. They would need him, sooner or later.
"But..but you could be at my place," Chili found herself saying. He looked at her as if she was joking.
"You know, you love living alone," Axton shook his head.
"We could try," she offered.
"We could, but not right now," he was turning her down. Chili was actually surprised.
"I just..I just want to do the right thing," he sighed. "I don't expect us to be anything more than friends."
Chili nodded as if she completely understood. She wanted this to work out for both of them, and yet she wanted to be there for Axton too.
Axton confessed in Chili that he's stressed by the prospect of Yuki and Em getting married. Chili, as a friend, offered him 'to be there for him', but he rejected her suggestion to try and live at her place. Well, perhaps he'll change his mind.
ReplyDeleteIt will all work out the way it's supposed to.
ReplyDeleteBeyond the horizon I always like to think about the sea.
ReplyDeleteBut this marital horizon is also fabulous when everything goes well in the relationship.
But a marriage, like the sea beyond the horizon, also has days of storms and calms.
(ꈍᴗꈍ) Poetic and cinematographic greetings.

Wow Chili offered Axton to come live with her. Interesante! Chili always tries to help everyone though, seems to me./

I think it will work. Have a wonderful weekend Ellie. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteHola!! un capitulo donde nos muestra que las cosas van desarrollándose de a poco, sin prisas y entendiendo lo que esta bien para con los otros-.
ReplyDeleteHmm . . . Chili and Axton rooming together could work, despite him turning her down. Especially because Yuki and Em really do need their space. I'm interested to see what develops.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your cactus commentary in the comments! A boy named Cactus is certainly memorable; I could totally see a Cactus in your stories! 🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
