Oh, it couldn't be that bad

 Lily was furious that she didn't stay home and just be with Boone. Naturally, he said going to her mother's with her grandmother was the right thing to do.

"I know you have bad feelings about this, but sometimes, you just have to be there, you know." He'd said about the matter. Of course, he was there for his brother's big wedding announcement and all of his mom's great desserts.

She was stuck with a lot of pumpkin pie and some toddlers she wasn't sure how to deal with anymore. Her Gram had said they would go shopping. That didn't happen either. It snowed. Thus it meant a layover at O'Hare. 

On the upside, she'd met Rosie who lived in Lily's little town. Really, it was a small world. And Lily felt as if they were in the same boat. Also her husband was Asian. They'd spent Thanksgiving with her husband's brother who was working out of town. 

At least, it was good to have someone to talk too. "I just don't know what I'm doing," Lily said about Boone.

"Well, you are still in high school," Rosie reminded her. "You should be doing high school things." Of course, Gram gave her a nod about that. Gram was getting a little fussy too. She'd missed her afternoon with the 'boys' aka Mercer and Cade and Rafe was bringing his new girlfriend Mattie. 

"I'm sure it will all work out," Rosie smiled about the matter. She said they usually spent the holiday with her Aunt. It was a tradition. "She has two little girls and a baby boy, but they are growing up fast."

How could Rosie stay so calm, Lily was ready to climb the walls. It wasn't until later that she figured out Rosie was going to have a baby. It gave Lily a cold shiver. Lily wasn't on any kind of birth control. 

She counted the times she'd spent with Boone. It wasn't that many times but it was at least up to seven.

Lily sat alone for a little while thinking she should be smarter than this. Why wasn't she ready for more adulting things? She wanted to blame Gram about this. Gram didn't exactly talk about it. 

What would happen if..if.. She looked back at Rosie who was chatting with her husband Chance. She turned back in the waiting chair at the busy airport. What if it was her? How would Gram react?

"What is wrong with you now?" Her Gram practically snapped. She handed over some peanut butter crackers she kept with her. "I think you need to eat something."

"No, I don't." Lily shook her head, no. Of course, she turned to her phone and put in a text to Boone.

She typed in pregnant. Her Gram was near. She couldn't finish the sentence. Her Gram was looking over her shoulder.

"Is there anything you want to tell me?" She then asked.

Lily looked at her blankly. Her phone was ringing. It was Boone.
