Don't get me started

"I think you're becoming me," Cade snickered as he was finishing up brushing his teeth and getting ready for bed in the room that he shared with his brother Rafe. Oh, it was still a cold one out, but there hadn't been snow for a while. January was looking a lot like December, weather-wise.

"What?" Rafe drew a scowl. "No way." He fought with his extra pillow, but Cade knew he'd be hugging it before the night was over. Rafe was a pillow hugger. He donned his fresh flannel sleep pants that his mom had got him for Christmas. It was true, they both longed for new undies and sleepwear to start the new year. They expected such a gift from their mother.

"Think about it," Cade plopped down on his bed adjacent to Rafe's. "You are starting to worry about all your friends." He reminded him how he and Maddie were worried about Amy and Eli. They didn't fuss like they used to out on a group date.

"God, I dunno about those two. Maddie is really sick of Junie and Darry, but she won't let it go," Rafe shrugged about the matter. It was as if he and Maddie were den parents of some kind.

"Well, as long as you and Maddie can have some fun," Cade festered a pout for Rafe's sake.

"Look, we are..you know..good..really good." Rafe nodded. He even had to get out the choker she'd gotten him.

"Oh, you think she really thinks you're that tough," Cade chuckled. Of course, it was nothing as sweet as what Mercer got him, a new Swishmellow and some cool buttons for his lanyard at work about Big Books and Harry Potter.

Of course, he'd had some sweet moments with him right here in this room, but he wouldn't dare let Rafe know.

Rafe said he was just happy that she liked the necklace he got her. He was so happy she was allergic to nickel. Of course, he found her a scarf and a purse at CVS to go with it. Yeah, Rafe never knew where to shop. No way around it, Rafe had a lot of growing up to do in Cade's mind.

About then his phone dinged. It was Mercer. "I'm coming down with something, but I don't think it's Covid."

Cade sighed. He was surprised they hadn't both got sick during the holidays. A lot of viruses were going around.

  1. The brothers Cade and Rafe, were discussing gifts received and offered, friends, and the fact that they were expecting new sleepwear from their mother for the New Year. It was cold in their bedroom, and the discussion helped them warm up.

  9. Holidays are a virus season. I've a touch of fever, hope I can recover before Monday so that I don't have to go to work sick.

  10. Cade and Rafe bonding; love it! Being in happy relationships give them lots to talk about -- even if the details remain a secret. Also, a Swishmellow is a stellar gift; I just got one for my b-day, my first!

Thanks so much for including my black and white florals in the collage -- and for making them Valentine-y! 🌸🖤🎀

I'm glad that your husband didn't have to go to the ICU. And I didn't know that he had a congested heart. My grandmother had that, and cellulitis too. I hope his change in diet goes okay; I know that can be a challenge.

Did you end up getting a lot of snow? We just got a dusting that disappeared in the rain.
