But I'm just a boy with his heart pourin' out of his head

"Why didn't you tell me?" Remi was curious about her cousin Harry. "Maisy just left?"

"She was missing New York," Harry shrugged. He was as indifferent as he ever was. Really, she always liked his sweet smile, but it was nowhere today.

"How did this happen?" Remi's voice hit a high note. She put her arm around him like a momma bird taking to her young. She'd watched him grow up. Maybe he'd watched her grow up too.

She and Wolf had finally settled in a civilized world, just down below from where Harry and Maisy lived. Wolf and Remi sold their home at the trailer park. Wolf was still fixing trailers on the side. Still, Remi didn't think they were that busy not to know what was going on with Maisy and Harry.

Of course, Harry didn't want to speak of her. She knew he might cry if he talked to much. He shook his head, no.

"I don't think I had anything to do with it." He nodded. "I always did my best to be as supportive in what she wanted to do."

Remi gave him a pat on the back. Harry told her then how a high school friend from Flushings called to tell her that he got on a Broadway show and how he could help her get on in the costume department. Maisy was excited. She could move in with him and his roommates.

Remi shook her head. She thought it was too good to be true, but she wouldn't tell this to Harry.

"I hope you told her she could come back anytime she liked." Remi looked him over, knowing he needed a good home-cooked meal, but all she could find was a block of cheese, some bread, and a can of tomato soup, but she went to work in his kitchen.

Harry shook his head no. "Maybe..maybe I was just too dazed and confused," he said they didn't have a fight. She had enough savings for a one-way ticket.

"Well, you better start saving up some money in case you need to get her," Remi looked back at him, but she knew he wouldn't do it. The farthest place Harry had ever been in his life was Council Bluffs and that was just across the bridge.

  6. The dynamics between Remi and Harry are intriguing, and Maisy's sudden departure adds an interesting twist. Relationships can be complicated, can't they? Thank you so much for sharing. I just shared a new post on my blog. Let me know your views about it.

  7. Poor Harry! It's good of Remi to lend him an ear -- not to mention a meal. I agree with Remi that Maisy's big break in New York sounds too good to be true. Maybe she'll be back before Harry knows it . . . 🧀🍅🧀🍅🧀🍅🧀🍅
