Searching for your worst and best

"Well, it is always best to use what you have," Jen knew that sounded kind of generic, but then again Stan's new idea was a bit of a wild card. He only had one person to apply at the music center.

"She's gone to a place that is well known for sound and recording. I just hope she can register kids for music lessons too. She can play the guitar and keyboard," Stan rattled off the pros from the resume. "But she's not seasoned and didn't get her degree."

"I wonder why?" Jen looked over her reading glasses as she sat in her favorite cushy chair with her feet propped on the matching ottoman. Yes, she was taking it easy these days. Maybe too easy. She felt like a bloated sow.

"Don't know," Stan shrugged.

"Just go with it," Jen reminded how happy the girl was that she could live upstairs, of course, she had a live-in boyfriend, too, who worked at the bakery. It would all be rather convenient.

"Fine."

He would do that. After all, he could try. Hopefully, Dory would be OK with a neighbor who worked in the same place he did.

"I hope they all get along." He winced as if he didn't like playing god or even being a landlord.

"You better rent out those other two apartments at full price. You've been playing nice far too long." Jen pursed her lips. They needed to make some money out of this project. True, they might always be better business partners than lovers. But it was getting easier and maybe they would make it official yet.

Only, she needed to let him see this through and be a part of deciding what they should do next. Oh, this waiting was making Jen impatient. Whether it be first the baby or a wedding or hoping they could bring new life to Old Towne.

  9. It's not easy to share work with love affairs! I hope the project is a success, but it's hard these days! Nobody is willing to give in, these new generations have very inflamed egos!

  13. I remember how shocked I was when my younger sister who lived in America in 2002 to 2008 most probably told me that there when girlfriend and boyfriend take meals together everyone pays from his own pocket because money is so much more important there.
Your chapters teach lot about it

  14. Jen and Stan are enterprising! I hope their venture as landlords works out. But I hope they work out as a couple more. As always, your ending says it all:

"Oh, this waiting was making Jen impatient. Whether it be first the baby or a wedding or hoping they could bring new life to Old Towne."
