Vanna was certain she'd never be the same again after giving birth to True. After so many hours of labor, she finally gave in to a C-section. One of the nurses told her Brittany Spears had two C-sections and it didn't hurt her body at all.
Vanna didn't know if she believed her now, but she wanted a steak as soon as Koda would grill her one. He told her it would be the last grill of the season, but she enjoyed every bite of it. Of course, True looked at her with big, dark eyes, sending her a message, "What about me?"
He was a hungry beast. She didn't know which was worse, her stomach or her breasts. She didn't want to see a soul, but of course, Slater and his family were the first to see her at home. And as much as Slater tried to cheer her up, it was a snoozefest for Vanna.
At least, his wife gave all three of them a goodie bag.
"I bet she spent a fortune," Vanna said later to Koda who was putting the canned chili away and noticing all the recipes on the back of the pancake mix. After all, they'd never had real maple syrup.
"Well, they've been helping us since day one," Koda reminded her that Slater was a brother he never had.
Vanna spent days going through all the girlie stuff in her bag. She loved the lotions and nail polish. She couldn't wait to put on the face mask.
Still, she felt so fat. She was not who she used to be even if Koda kept telling her she was beautiful. Still she wanted to sleep, but as soon as she did she was jumping out of bed to see if True was breathing OK. Naturally, this stirred him and he was always ready to get cozy with her in their soft rocking chair in the livingroom to breastfeed.
"You're going to be OK, aren't you?" Koda did help with the baby. In fact, he didn't let her be alone with True much.
She'd given him a shrug. It was a strange time for her. All these emotions were a mix of sadness and happiness. It made her so nervous. She wasn't sure if she could bathe her Buddha baby so she took a shower with him.
"THAT IS DANGEROUS!" Misty (Slater's wife) practically yelled at her when she told her about showering with True.
"Well, we were just fine," Vanna winced. She didn't see the problem. Koda had showered with him too. The first time she did it, Koda was in the shower with her. They were a very clean family. Vanna vowed to never bring up her baby bathing again to Misty.
Aww congrats to Vanna. So many emotions after a birth.

Very good
ReplyDeleteIt balances humor and vulnerability, showing how even the smallest gestures, like a thoughtful goodie bag or Koda’s help with True, can make a big difference in navigating such a transformative time.
