I just wanna take another look

"It's just going to take some getting used to," Sterling didn't know what else to say about him and Melissa. They were still together even if she'd decided the right thing to do was to let his sister and Riley raise the baby.

He was glad Mercer had the time to meet up with him before Winter Break was over. The new year felt so dismal to him, but he didn't want to be moody. Although, he was so depressed and he'd been sick during the holidays, apparently, it was his own morning sickness which might have been mourning than anything else.

"Well, you'll think of something," Mercer nodded. After all, Sterling had a chance to write and direct a play at the University in the spring.

Sterling tried to be in good spirits, but he quickly turned to his cup of coffee and drank as if he needed the Peppermint brew from Christmas.

"If she just wasn't so mean to you," Mercer frowned.

"I dunno," he didn't think that was it. It was Melissa not even thinking about him and he guessed he didn't have a right to have those kinds of thoughts. He knew things might have been different if he had a lot of money, but he didn't think that was really it, either. "I know this is scary for her."

He'd take the blame. He should have known, but still, it felt like a miracle too. He knew it was best to talk about Mercer's holiday.

Mercer said his checkup was fine, but he was going to have to be more careful about what he ate. "There were too many carbs at home," he said Issy was much better at making sure his meals were just for him. "I know I owe them a lot." He couldn't always make his own meals. After all, he'd settle with hot tea and lemon at the coffee shop.

"It was fun seeing my sister," Sterling smiled after all Riley and Tess got married. He'd almost forgotten how he'd seen his little niece. And his other sister's family was doing so well. Funny, how they just didn't get together anymore. Maybe this was the year they'd all have more time for each other.  And maybe Melissa would be OK. Maybe they'd both be OK. After all, neither had moved out nor moved on.

  3. Having a new perspective on things sometimes confuses us more than it helps, because most people are predictable.
