Don't let nobody pick your fun

CW figured he would be the one who had to work with the new guy, Nico, but of course, sunny Crystal stepped in to show him around. Millie was off doing something with supplies and money reports.

The more he watched those two, he couldn't stand it, and he didn't know why. He wanted to hit something or make the pots and pans crash. Instead, he pushed his fists into the front pockets of his jeans, doing his best not to show his anger.

Maybe it was fear that Nico would have his job. Then what? CW would be out cold. Wouldn't he? The thought made him a little dizzy.

"What are you doing?" Crystal snapped as if to show him and Nico who was boss. "Are you going to stand there all day?"

This was not the answer CW wanted. He would be sullen and even lip-locked. She would never notice he was mad. Not while she was easy-going and laughing with Nico about bussing tables and washing dishes.

CW's eyes narrowed. He couldn't keep his off Nico. Damn, he was the type who could look sharp in a thrifted shirt and dingy teeshirt.

All CW could think of was how pathetic his endless pimples were and his oily hair that hung in his face. No, he knew who Crystal liked best, but he went on with things while Crystal got Nico situated.

Still, CW felt the bitterness seeping through his veins. He got to the orders and let the bacon sizzle on the grittle while the waffles steamed. He scrambled a few eggs, and after the bacon was done, he put on a couple of sausage patties to go with the over-easy eggs that he had to be extra careful about. Damn, if he didn't burn himself while getting out the waffles from the big waffle maker. But he kept going. He had to. People were coming in for breakfast then brunch.

It left him in a sweat. He needed something cold to drink and Crystal brought him a diet drink. After one sip he wanted to spit it back at her. "Why did you bring me a diet?"

"Sorry, that's what I always have," she shrugged.

He was close-lipped about it. A part of him was glad she was talking to him instead of Nico.

"I guess, he's just your type," CW let slip.

Her brows furrowed. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well.." He didn't exactly know.

"Both of you are just boys, to me." Crystal walked away then. Her hurtful words stuck with him. How was he going to let her know he wasn't a boy anymore?

  2. I'm sorry CW thinks that way. Maybe it's not true at all, and Crystal is just being nice to Nico. Nothing more.
