here's looking at the new moon

Roger was shaking with laughter.

Had they just made out in front of his house for over an hour? Roger winced and noticed the porch light was no longer on. He sucked in a breath, thinking they might have gone out for breakfast or coffee, but no, they'd came back here. And he didn't think it was going happen because he'd been, well, pushy, he supposed.

But it seemed like a moment. Might have been. All, Doyle would have had to do was push him away, but he didn't.

"We should talk." Doyle nodded as if it would be a good idea then. Even now. He thought he heard Doyle say it a couple of times, but then they'd kiss, and Roger totally forgot about talking.

"Right." Roger nodded now, thinking this was for real. He should tell Doyle something.

"Its not like I just go out and pick random people to hook up with." Roger looked straight ahead, hoping that was enough to explain himself. "So?" He looked back at Doyle. "How many guys have you been with?" He didn't want to dwell on this. But wasn't it best to get this dirty laundry done before he got started with someone?

Doyle just shook his head.

Roger nodded biting his bottom lip, looking into the night again.

"Girls?" Roger looked back at him.

Doyle shook his head, no, again.

"What? You're serious?" Roger hugged himself then. This was like hearing good and bad news at once. What was it with finding all the virgins out there? Olivia. Now Doyle. Well, they might be the last two he'd ever meet.

"OK, I did go out with quite a few girls in high school. But it never really worked out. It was like a big act, you know. And then I met Cory. And it was one of those things I thought would last a life-time. Its not like I want to put myself out there just to get sick or something. But we broke up when he graduated high school. And its been weird ever since." Roger sighed. "OK, Olivia. She was my friend and well, we ended up together. And yeah, I still love her. But we're just better as friends."

Doyle was quiet. Maybe he was asleep. The silence wore on, for sometime.

"Can we go out, sometime?" Roger felt it was painful to ask now. He'd much rather be wrapped up in Doyle's warmth than to have him barely look at him now.

"Uh, I dunno." Doyle winced.

"Oh. OK." Roger was crushed though. He felt like he might cry, but he couldn't help but reach for Doyle one last time. It felt like a good song had came on the radio, even if the car wasn't on. They kissed another round of finding what was so spectacular about the last kiss, then another slow one evolved. It was as if they had to know each other, and no other.

"Just tell me, you'll think about it." Roger whispered in Doyle's ear.

He thought he got a nod out of Doyle. Roger just smiled. He thought about asking him up, but he knew it was too soon for that. Roger just wanted there to be a next time.
