Gabby didn't really feel like being in a wedding. Naturally, she didn't show at the department store where her sister Macy was looking at spring dresses. Instead, she was chilling in her room with instrumental piano music. At the moment she was listening to Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Honestly, she wasn't in the mood for anything. She didn't even want to hang out with Ste.
Yes, she'd decided to give him the silent treatment since their last moment at Easter in her room.
She scrunched a face. She still didn't like the fact they'd had sex in her room. She was actually a little peeved that no one stopped them.
Gabby paced, thinking what next. She knew she shouldn't be this way. She didn't want to be depressed. She didn't want to be sad.
She bit her thumbnail into the quick. It stang. She winced hard, wondering how much more miserable she could get.
But then, a knock came to her door. Her mom told her someone was waiting for her, downstairs.
Gabby made a face of disgust. Who could it be? Ste hadn't called. Ollie wouldn't. He just wouldn't.
She put her rutty hair back and slid on some lip gloss and went down stairs.
Naturally, they were waiting at the bottom of the stairs. They were already in the living room.
Suddenly, Gabby stopped in her tracks. It was Valentina.
"What are you doing here?" Gabby couldn't think Ollie's girlfriend would know where she lived.
"Ste's worried about you." She stood up. "And, and I've been worried about you. I mean, I know I don't know you, but he, he talks so much about you at work."
"What has he told you?" Gabby swelled a frown. She didn't like this one bit.
"I think we should be friends," Valentina told her. "You know, Ollie." She smiled. "So, I thought-" Valentina sighed as if she was out of breath as if maybe she didn't have enough strength to do this.
Gabby nodded. She'd make hot chocolate. Maybe she needed a friend too. She couldn't remember the last time she actually had a conversation with another girl.
She listened to Valentina talk of a Ste that Gabby didn't know. She envied her, but she wouldn't let it show.
