everyone's got a problem or two
"Are you sure he should be there?" Evan didn't like this Wade that Lux spoke of. They'd met outside of their apartment building and were having ice cream at the nearby little grocery store. He never shopped there unless it was the ice cream in waffle cones.
"Oh, he was so bad off, when he went to live with his dad." Evidently, he'd found the wrong crowd to hang out with, according to Lux. "Wade's so much like my mom."
As congenial Lux was with her big nine-month-old, there was a certain sadness about her. Evan knew this was a guilty pleasure for her, eating ice cream with him. He took baby Jake from her and feed him the ice cream from a bowl.
"Still, how can you trust him?" Evan wanted to help her with Jake, but he wasn't so sure Sawyer would like the idea. His boyfriend wasn't kid-friendly.
"He's getting better." She nodded as she licked at her strawberry ice cream.
Evan knew about Wade's STD and how long it took him to get the antibiotics.
"I wish he'd take care of himself." Evan didn't know him. He didn't even know what he looked like.
"Its kind of a sad story," Lux then admitted. "He was so serious about this girl he'd met in Missouri. They were going to have a baby. Although, he wasn't so happy about it at the time, but they broke up after she had a miscarriage. He hasn't been the same since." She talked of his drunken behavior at a small college that got him kicked out.
"He's a pretty good mechanic, you know." She nodded as if she needed to think of all the good things about him, not his rotten behavior.
"Do you think he has suicidal tendencies?" Evan couldn't help but think out loud. Maybe Lux's brother needed professional help.
Still, Evan liked thinking of Lux's problems instead of his own. Maybe he wasn't meant to be with Sawyer since Evan seriously wasn't good with intimacy. Yet, he felt his conversations with Lux were enlightening.
