when you hit the wall

Will wanted to be all right with everything that had happened with Ivy. But he needed to face the fact that getting into a shouting match over a text wasn't nearly enough of the feelings that were bottled up inside him.

What had he done to make her want to forget him like this?

"Maybe she's not as mature as you think she is?" It was Lux who spoke up. She was at Evan's. Will had gone there hoping he'd have someone to vent too, but Evan was in the middle of a Harry Potter movie marathon, and Lux was breastfeeding.

At least, she was well covered, until the baby boy jerked himself up and looked Will over as if he might be missing out on the conversation. She buttoned her shirt up quickly and plopped the peach fuzz baby in his lap.

Will cleared his throat about to say something, but he held the baby ever so carefully, even if he fell back against him as if he needed Will's calmness as much as Will did.

The baby studied him as if there was no need to bring up the past. Who cared if Will went on and on over a text about his feelings about how hurt he was, just to get a small apology from a girl who he thought loved him.

Will sighed, trying his best to concentrate on the TV while Lux went to get a cup of coffee.

"I've never seen Jake like this." She told him when she got back with the creamed coffee. "Maybe you're a wizard with babies and you just don't know it." Her smile was quite confident.

Will didn't really know what to say.
