its a new day
Will guessed he could have brought more books, but he only packed the essentials which amounted to about three boxes. And that was plenty to carry up to Lux's apartment on the third floor.
When he got to Lux's place, she wasn't there but Evan and Jools greeted him.
"You brought everything you own?" Evan winced as if this was impossible. Where were his dishes? Did he remember his slippers and pajamas? Or even toothpaste?
"Well, I still have my room at home." He'd forgotten about his winter coat, but he wouldn't mention it. He'd packed quickly as if he was ready for a new beginning. Maybe he was getting ahead of himself.
Of course, Evan mentioned the new bedding. "We even got you a new mattress," Evan mentioned Lux didn't trust her brother(no telling what diseases he might expose Will too), and Evan used a gift card from Amazon.
Now Will nursed his bottom lip. "You, shouldn't have." He wished they could ship it back. He could have brought his own bed.
"It's fine, really." Evan shrugged.
"Test it out, its firm, but not too hard." Jools grinned as if he already had.
Will nodded, not sure where Jools came from. He'd never seen him before. Maybe Evan was seeing someone.
Will cleared his throat. He was certain Lux would know. "Where is Lux?" He wanted to know, yet he hoped it sound like he was expecting anything.
"She's picking up pizza," Evan told him he'd brought over some cold spaghetti and some lemonade.
"She's got Jake with her, too?" Will felt certain he should be helping out already. He felt empty handed.
"He's still at her grandmother's," Evan said. "I think after dinner she wants you to come with her when she picks him up. Her grandmother wants to meet you."
Will's eyes were open wide. Suddenly, he felt as if this was not the best surprise. He hadn't expected to have to meet Lux's grandmother.
