it isn't a big deal

When Bom showed up for work, she guessed she should have called. "Maybe, maybe you don't need me," She said to Natalie, seeing there was a new guy. True, things were busier at the moment than she last remembered during the holidays. Still, most were back to their classes at the Uni.

"Oh, we need you." Natalie's words frightened her a little. It was the first time Natalie sounded like management. Maybe it was better this way, not to take orders from her ex a.k.a step-brother.

"I see." Bom gave her a nod and went to clean tables. She guessed she'd forgot. Her mind was consumed with Cody these days. In spite of being together during the holidays and even at home, she knew she needed to wake up and get back to the grind of things.

Bom's last impression with Joon was that he never wanted to see her again. Now, his head was down and he was busy with coffee orders in the back, along with chopping and getting sandwiches almost ready for the lunch rush. But it was different with his significant other.

"Did you guys have a good New Year's?" Bom asked with a smile.

"We took down the tree." Natalie was so matter of fact. It was as if she needed a break. Although Bom was certain they would be busier once classes were back, she could see Natalie wasn't ready for it.

"Are you sure everything is OK?" Bom felt as if she was looking at Natalie for the first time. Was that a baby bump she was noticing? Or just the extra weight of holiday goodies? Bom couldn't help but let out a sigh. Yes, it was best to stay and help. She got Natalie to sit down and brought her some herbal tea.

Natalie remained even lipped. Bom kept smiling, hoping she didn't come off nosy.
