Cody wondered if Bom was coming down with something when he came home from work. She wasn't her cheerful self wanting him to try something she'd made. Instead, she was in her pajamas ready for binge-watching on Netflix.
"What's wrong?" He winced, thinking this was the worst time of the year with it so cold and everyone coming down with a sore throat. She told him she wasn't sick. Finally, she shared the news about Joon and Natalie when he sat down with her on the couch.
Cody looked at her out the corner of his eye. What was she really trying to tell him? She wanted a baby, too?
"Ah, no..no.." She smiled. "That's not it." Of course, she wasn't sure what made her so sad. Possibly, it was the fact she'd waited so long to fall in love.
He understood. He'd been down that road. "I guess I stopped thinking about it, after a while," He told her he wasn't even sure if he could fall in love. "But then I met you." He messed with her long hair. "Maybe we're too much alike." Still, he felt they were on the same page about a lot of things.
To some, he was certain they would say they'd rushed into a relationship, yet everyone had a different pace when it came to love. They hadn't sat down to make a contract. They weren't trying to grade each other. After all, it was best to take one day at a time.
"I don't guess I knew what I was looking for, until I met you," Bom told him he was much more than a pretty face. He was a good friend. "And you keep me warm, at night." She smiled. "I never slept so well until I met you."
Cody laughed softly. Honestly, he felt the same way. Of course, he knew it was far from the perfect relationship, but he wouldn't judge it. Each day he found out something new about Bom. Perhaps, even new about himself. He'd never been this patience with anyone, but she kept him calm. Not even Liam could henpeck his life.
It was the first time Cody felt at home.
