now or never

Dylan didn't understand why Lalah was so nervous. Why couldn't he help her out when her daughter suddenly went to the hospital with the false labor pains.

"I-" She could hardly respond to him in the waiting room. He looked over her shoulder and saw Ivy's boyfriend Brian staring at him.

"Oh, he doesn't care." Dylan handed her a coffee. The waiting seemed endless since they had her daughter hooked up to so many monitors.

"You should go home," Lalah told him.  It was late, perhaps early morning.

"But, I don't want to." Dylan was a touchy-feely kind of guy. He could hardly keep his hands off her. Hadn't they practically spent the night together on Valentines Day? No one even called her to fret. Dylan slightly sighed. "We should be together."

Lalah pulled away from him and gave him the eye that this was not the time nor the place. He knew she could be tense. It hurt to see her this way.

She wasn't just his secretary anymore. Yes, he loved working with her and he didn't want her to stop working with him. It was just he needed her next to him. Why couldn't she let her family know they were together?
