the sunshine vibe
Char was grateful for Sunny's dads to show up when they did. After all, Jared came with Cole and it wasn't easy having to face her past who was quite distant even in a room full of people. But she kept smiling and stayed by Diago's side.
She couldn't remember the last time she'd been in a room full of so many men. It was fascinating listening to them talk about the weather and plans for the summer. Perhaps she was in a daze. It just didn't feel like home yet. But it was good to have food in the empty kitchen.
Xander and Ducky made certain the pantry was full with the staples to get them started. So these were her neighbors. She hadn't expected she would like living in a house. The last time she remembered such occasion she'd been with her family then. Before it was just her and her mom.
It was true. She'd lived in all sorts of rundown places, like trailer parks and cheap motel rooms. As she looked back she wondered how she got here. Evidently, someone was looking out for her.
Now as she watched Jared in the corner, she was sure someone was looking out for him. Honestly, he never did think much of the future. It was always the present. It was always about what he wanted now.
What had she seen in him? She didn't want to think how she was then when she was with him. Perhaps, she'd been immature now. It was a chapter of her life that was now closed.
Diago put his arm around her. "Are you OK?"
She nodded, biting her lip before she smiled to much. She hugged him back. Why would she ever doubt him? He was the king of networking. The life of the party. It felt good to be in his warmth. Somehow, they would make it. And she would be thankful everyday.
